Looking for a nice "special occasion"-type restaurant within a 45 minute drive of Chester. Suggestions??
Tom P. replied:
Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Lakehouse Grille at The Inn and Spa at Church Landing in Meredith. Live music from about 10:30-1 pm (with a break from about 11:30-12). We just did this last week. And then there's the Bedford Village Inn; I haven't eaten at the fancy main dining room, only at the more casual Tavern, but it was awesome. Oh, here's a *really* good one we have eaten at -- LaBelle Winery's Bistro in Amherst. If you go there, the owners are Amy and Caesar. Tell Caesar that "Coach" sent you:-). He's a former coworker of mine. http://www.thebistroatlabelle.com/

China Garden in Derry, by Aldi's
Bob C. replied:
Apart from Chen Yang Li in Bedford years ago, or maybe one-or-two others even further away, I don't think I've been especially impressed by any "Chinese" restaurants near us. With that being said, I found Orient Pearl, on Rte. 125 in Epping isn't bad. My current favorite Asian restaurant in this area *by far* is Daw King Thai, in Manchester (http://dawkunthai.com)!! It's owned by Desmond Holman and his wife, both living in Chester. I can't recommend it highly enough, probably having been there 5-6 times since June.
Greg S. replied:
Its not Chinese, it's better. Lots of Eats. Thai Kitchen in North Andover.
Vaughn C. replied:
Dim Sum in Derry, but best is in downtown Exeter, but can't remember name.

If you don't mind going to Raymond, we really like Lucky Corner

Dumpling Palace in Londonderry is so-so, but is the best in a 50 miles range. If driving an hour is not a problem, then Chilli Garden in Medford, MA will not disappoint you.

Looking for suggestions. Kids just decided to be vegan. Any restaurants locally that have decent vegan and gluten free options?
Laura T. replied:
Muse in Manchester off exit 4 on 295 has vegan pad Thai. There's also a new place near Elm st. called Milk and Honey. Republic on Elm st. is pricy but very accommodating to food restrictions. Bridge St cafe on Elm. I second Amphora in Derry. Also surprisingly enough T Bones has a pretty good selection. Further out in Portsmouth there's Portsmouth Brewery and Green Elephant. If you go as far as Boston (well Cambridge) there's a bunch of great options but one of my favorites is Veggie Galaxy. I'm vegetarian not vegan, but there are usually options even if it's "can you leave such and such off a dish".
Stacey C. replied:
Green Elephant in Portsmouth is amazing!!!! 3 Vegans in our family....Exeter has good ones too...
