If you are in Michigan, go to http://www.mlda.org/ and contact them to find a good doctor.
Lyme disease is an awful disease that will get worse without treatment. Do not mess around with homeopathic remedies until you have taken your full round of antibiotics. I had it and it was misdiagnosed for months until it finally went into my brain and then I developed Bells Palsy. I was on antibiotics for months, but I have no lasting symptoms, I don't think. Cleanse his body after he is feeling better. Good luck.

I'm a huge fan of Doctor Craig Callen at Chico Animal Hospital on The Esplanade. My dog adores him. I could tell from the first visit, when Craig sat down on the floor to meet my dog face-to-face that he knew how to connect. Valley Oak is a good place to go in an emergency but they are also a out-of-state operation that absorbed a number of the local veterinary operations when they came to town. The do a good job but they are very expensive. I've always been a devotee of supporting local business and Chico Animal Hospital has that all day long.
Gary E. replied:
My daughter is a Veterinarian at Valley Oak, so we have gotten to know a lot of the staff. They are wonderful, caring professionals. Sure, I may be somewhat prejudiced, but around the dinner table we get a lot of the stories of behind the scenes acts of compassion and kindness by the Vets and staff that most people would never know about. They are the only 24/7 Veterinary Hospital in Chico.
Donni D. replied:
Dr. Callen at Chico Animal Hospital is THE BEST!! First, the office is not huge and scary for your pet...not a bunch of other animals in the same room...which makes it so much easier for your pet! Plus the entire staff is loving and caring and really makes your animals feel comfortable and cared for. I've been taking my furry family members to them for 25 or more years, and he saved my beautiful basset hound Emma from paralysis with his wonderful knowledge and use of acupuncture. My animals love him and his staff and I'm sure you would feel at ease there.
Naomi W. replied:
Chico Creek Vet is the best. I use to take my animals to another vet but they couldn't figure out why one of my dogs had ear issues... Dr Bettencourt actually diagnosed and treated the issue.
Don U. replied:
Valley Oak is the best.
Jenna B. replied:
Valley Oak is great. It can get pricey, but is top notch in care. There is an exam fee, but that is standard at any vet. The staff is very kind and doctors are extremely thorough.
My eye doctor is no longer practicing in Chico, so I need to find a new eye doctor. I saw the post about Chico eye doctors, but I can't find it now. Is anyone a patient...
Kasey K. replied:
I hope you mean an Ophthalmologist., not an Optometrist. The Stabel Eye Clinic is top notch.
Frances C. replied:
I like the doctors over on Ceanothus. Dr. Johnson is the best.

Dr. Arregui
Nancy S. replied:
Chico Eye Center is a good choice. Big, nice building, several doctors. Front office is courteous & professional. If you don't have vision on your plan they are expensive to get your Rx filled, but you can take it anywhere. I just had an exam about a wk ago there and took my Rx to Costco to be filled. Not as many choices but about a third of the cost.
Martha S. replied:
Dr. Stabel, like him alot..

Dr. Stabel and his staff. Honestly, one of the best medical experiences I have had, and they did not try to sell me anything. They seem to be very science based, and friendly.

You want to go to Dr. Hanchett in Paradise. When I had horrible endometriosis no one in Chico would see me because I wasn't pregnant and I almost had to go to Stanford. But Dr. Hanchett was wonderful! And unlike the Chico doctors he will keep seeing you after you give birth. (530)872-2000 and just ask to speak with Dr. Hanchett's office. He is amazing!
Anna M. replied:
I do Feather River Midwives currently. They take Medi-Cal. She can do water births, not sure about home births though. I've only seen one of the mid-wives so far out of 4 in the practice and she didn't smell like patchouli or anything, though. I'm going more natural and I was raised by a hippie mama and I'm comfortable there.
Jodi M. replied:
Dorrie Keefe--here are a lot of resources. Hope they help.
Anne D. replied:
Paradise Midwifery is the place!
Nicole H. replied:
I started with Lisa Catterall from Paradise MIdwivery, she's amazing and has been doing it for a loooooong time. She used to be in Chico but moved to Feather River. Her office is in Chico so you can go to your apts locally but deliver at feather River. She takes Medi-cal too. I had to switch due to the twins. No waterbirth with twins:(
Evan P. replied:
Lisa Catterall delivered all four of my kids; she's fantastic. She had a policy of allowing home births, but not for first pregnancies.
Deb I. replied:
Jodi Rives Meier....isn't Chanin Hanson practicing now in Paradise? I would trust her.
Barb F. replied:
Barb Clifford was the BEST MIDWIFE.....way back in 1987 when she helped me literally get through my entire pregnancy, especially at the birthing phase with my beautiful daughter Ayla Kathryn!!! I'm not sure what she is doing nowadays.....maybe retired? She was so calm, so supportive etc!!!! Lots of the names typed out I have her really good things about them, they know their midwifery, for sure!!
Rhonda P. replied:
I have a great ob/gyn . Her name is Deborah Anderson. Pretty Berkeley Like.. and I just love her. She's in paradise but I'm not sure if she takes medical. I know she can check at the clinic on skyway in paradise. The doctors there all take medical.

Then look at Lyme Disease Diagnostic Center in Paradise CA. You can call them and I think they can help point you in the right direction for a specialist that can prescribe the LDN.

Dr. Miles diagnosed him and referred him back to his regular practitioner for treatment. Dr Miles is an infectious disease specialist, but he doesn't treat Lyme. The issue is that most issuance companies won't cover treatment.
