Does anyone know of any electronics stores in GNV? I fried my motherboard... I shorted my motherboard installing some RAM on Saturday. I don't have a problem ordering...

You're best bet is probably going to be newegg unfortunately. The closest I could tell you in town would be to check out [Sound Ideas](http://www.soundideasstereo.com/index.php) on NW 13 th st. They mainly specialize in home theater and electronics but it might be worth a shot. For what it's worth, they fixed my record player 5 years ago and it still sounds amazing.

Longtime GNV resident here - Unless I'm missing someting, electronic stores in gainesville are a thing of the past. We used to have 2 or 3 decent ones, but they're long gone :(

Our modem stopped working last week and we needed one immediately. Since ATT wanted $115 for an new one we went to Best Buy and picked up one for about half that price and it was installed an hour later. We have gone to Radio Shack for parts as well. If we can wait for a part, we do do use newegg.

I believe Impact Computers in the Creekside Mall is the only computer parts store left in town. I have not personally visited this store but I've seen it mentioned in similar threads. They do computer repairs and custom builds. So my thought is they've gotta have a mobo for sale. Give them a call to make sure, of course.

Thanks for the help. I figured that newegg would be my best bet. Maybe I will see some of you tomorrow at Big Lou's!
Lexarius replied:
Just newegg it. Even if there's somewhere in town you can buy a motherboard for a reasonable price, you don't want to have to stand around comparing them in the store and checking that they match all of the requirements of your old one. ("This one's good, but I need two PCIe x16 slots... that one's good, but no, it doesn't fully support my RAM... this one would work, but these slots are too cramped together, my video cards would rub up against each other...")

I guess you could call Best Buy, but I have no idea if they'd one or not. They're the only ones I could think would. Or you could take the money you'd save via Newegg and pay for overnight shipping.

I'll agree with crippling that online would be the best bet. I'm particular about my motherboards and want to ensure that I have compatibility with my components and the features I want. Some retail spots to check locally would be: [Computer Wizz](http://www.computerwizzinc.com/), [Dog Bytes Computers](http://www.dog-bytes.com/), [Micro-PC Plus](http://www.micropcplus.com/index2.html), or maybe large shops like Best Buy or Office Depot. Amazon Prime is great if you do any amount of online shopping. Two-day delivery, or pay $4/item for overnight. I got an SSD from them delivered in less than 12 hours from order.

If you have shop runner, you can have a new egg one in a couple days.

If you're really desperate, you could drive to Orlando. A lot of PC parts stores there.

Amazon may be better for you than newegg. If you're a student you can use your .edu email address to get 6 months of free prime. Then you can get 1 day shipping for only $4 extra. So you could have a new mobo by tomorrow if you do that as opposed to 3-4 days via Newegg.

Is the mobo cracked - open traces? Have you tried blasting the female connector with canned air, cuz maybe you have grime down there? Can you boot with the old ram? The nerds over at http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/ might be able to handhold you thru simple diagnostics.
