We will be going down to Puerto Vallarta and wanted to know of a good hotel all inclusive or not inclusive near the malecon that yall have had a good experience in as...
Jim A. replied:
So many-hard to pick one!! But, do NOT recommend All Inclusive in PV...too many resturants in the area you will be staying.
Bobbi H. replied:
Vallarta Shores is great and right and the end of the Malecon. Room 4 is right off the pool area. I loved it and close to lots of good restaurants, parking and on the beach!
Tricia L. replied:
Please, do yourself a favor & experience the vibe of PV. Don't do all inclusive or why bother coming. I live here & this town meshes tourists, locals & us expats seemlessly. Los Arcos is a good choice for a great location. Also, Tropicana & San Marino. All in Old Town. Rosita at north end of Malecon. Over 650+ restaurants. Have never been to a bad one. Some are better for value though. Bravo's is my favorite but I could give you a list a mile long. And don't miss the Taco stands. OMG, good!
Janice Y. replied:
I am just back from PV:). Cafe Olle on Basilla Badio (sp?) had great Mexican food & ambience. Margaritagrille has THE BEST prawn/shrimp cocktails for 140 pesos & they make your gucamole to your tastes, right at your table... Nice guys working there!:)
Kathleen P. replied:
Ron Zolin Don't know of too many but the Holiday Inn in the Hotel Zone is pet friendly.
Tricia L. replied:
Casa Anita is also pet friendly. But you better not mind steps.
Jennifer M. replied:
Posade De Roger is perfect. Cheap. I think they are pet friendly. Nice little pool, near everything. Don't go all inclusive.

Casa Leyendas, B&B is lovely...in the historic district. Dog friendly.

If you don´t mind paying the price, this place is awesome and the owners are great. The are from the U.S. and have two dogs of their own. Beautiful place and great location. Casa de Leyendas B&B Mazatlan, MX Glenn & Sharon Sorrie www.casadeleyendas.com\reservations@casadeleyendas.com

Jim F. replied:
Sounds like fun. If you're looking at $100/nt ($1700MX/Nt) then look on http://Booking.com and select a hotel in the centro with availability. You can call them directly and ask for a better price. Keep in mind you are going to Gringo-Land or México-Lite and prices will be reflected as such.
Judy B. replied:
Posada de la Aldea. It was a mission, right on the road coming in, very close to downtown - white complex on left side. Free secure parking, reasonable rate, we always stay there and love it. Also really love San Miguel de Allende. So much to see and do there.
Renee D. replied:
Friends of our recently stayed at Casa de Conservas. Pricing is moderate, certainly less than many fancier places, and it's located in the Centro. I saw my friends' room...was quite large and looked comfortable. HTH. http://www.booking.com/hotel/mx/casa-de-las-conservas.html

Keep in mind that the "Festival of Our Lord of the Conquest" begins this Friday, March 4 and lasts all weekend.. Many people will be here to see the conchero dancers who dance in front of the Parroquia. The dancers arrive shortly after dawn and dance until dusk. It is a major celebration. Any accommodation in or near the Jardin (Centro) may have already been booked. Buen suerte.

La Posada de la Aldea fits your description well [location and budget]. I'd recommend it after multiple stays there. Now with pretty good internet too. The breakfasts are not great but you can walk to the Mesa Grande in 5 minutes. I like SMA better on weekdays/nights. Harv Allison is correct...Olla is always packed, just like Freddy's...must be good food!
John G. replied:
If you want upscale, Cafe des Artistes, and Trio, is always fabulous. But if you are going to be there for a few days and want to have some fun...the patio restaurant, Cafe Bohemio is a ton of fun. It's "gayer than Christmas" and has great home cooked food prepared by chef Sol Rose. Strolling Mariachi bands will serenade you if you want. Just great fun and good food...and cheap too! In Old Town, near the pier. Off Olas Altas...in the heart of Old Town.

Archie's Wok does lots of 'Thai-inspired' dishes; right down near the Pier! https://www.facebook.com/archieswok

Anejo Limon in Old Town on Basillo Badillio has one of the best chefs in town...Bruce Byng ...can't go wrong here. PV has tons of good restaurants. If you you would like a touch of France, La Cigalle is a lovely French Bistro type restaurant just 100 yards to the left of the town square cathedral...Escargot and French Onion Soup to die for. Has good steak au poive as well. For breakfast, head on over to Vitae on the extended Malecon...great food, and great for people watching and it's right on the ocean. Love it.

You can take hwy 71 south from the 80D to 15D at la barca. Take the hwy along the north shore of lake Chapala through Jamay & ocotlan. At N20.45040 W103.25051 watch for a large white pedestrian overpass. Just past that you will see an OXXO on the left. You need to turn left here, but you have to go 1 more km to a retorno (Marked Chapala/la Barca) first. Back at the OXXO turn right towards Cajitilan. When you reach the junction with highway 54 D (N 20.49049 W 103.49038) follow the sign to Tala and take 601 north to Tala. At the junction with 70 you can either take 70 to pV or head north to intercept 15 D west of guadalajara instead. Longer way around but you avoid Guad.
Sue F. replied:
Take Av. Lazaro Cardenas through Guadalajara, watch for the signs for Tepic, Nogales or Puerto Vallarta. Then you can either take the route through Ameca and Mascota, or go by the autopista to Chapalilla then turn off towards Compostela then Puerto Vallarta. We prefer the route through Ameca.
