Vegan hiking boots that last??? As a vegan, environmentalist, and outdoor athlete, I struggle with how often I have to get my boots replaced (go through a pair a year)....

Lowa makes some of the best hiking boots in the world and have started making 2 different synthetic models. The Mammut T Aenergy is a good synthetic option. Not sure about the glue used though. The Arc'teryx Bora hiking boots are synthetic and Arc'teryx gear, while expensive, are pretty bomb proof.

Zamberlan 230 SH Crosser Plus GTX® RR. Love these shoes. Bought them for hiking purposes, but they are so comfortable that I wear them every day. Real sturdy. soles haven't worn out in a year. Great ankle support.

I can't speak for their hiking boots specifically, but I have a pair of combat boots from Vegetarian Shoes that I've been wearing for over 10 years and they're still holding up incredibly. I have several other shoes from them as well, and have never had issues. They do sell hiking boots and I would expect them to be of the same quality. I generally either wear my combat boots or running shoes to go hiking though.

Vibrams makes a terrific one but its on the lighter side.

Vivo barefoot has some nice waterproof if you are into the barefoot thing.. Not sure how they'd work for backpacking with those soles. I really like my palladium but they are also a little thin so if you are hiking g in a gravel bed, it may be a bit uncomfortable.

Anybody have experience with Vaude's footwear? They have some synthetic options, but I've only tried their clothing. They're a company with a [pretty solid sense of social responsibility](https://rankabrand.org/sustainable-outdoor-clothing/Vaude), offers repair options as well.
