I heard a name the other day that I haven't heard for many years, does any one remember when Temple Stephens had a grocery store?
Christina P. replied:
Mattingly's was next to Temple Stephens (where the first Aldi's was) at Garth & Business Loop. My Aunt worked for Mattingly's for years. Where temple Stephens was O'reilly auto parts is now.

Temple Stephens started off at Garth & Business Loop, then moved down South Providence to where the Gerbes store is now.

Temple Stephens started downtown on 8 th street in the 1920's or 30's. I took my grandpa shopping there in the 1950's on Saturdays. They moved to Garth and Buss Loop in the 60's or early 70's.
