Hi neighbors, my husband and I are new to the area...do you have recommendations for good dentists and optometrists in Columbia? Thank you! :)

Frame of mind with Dr. Jeff Magun and especially if you're looking for the best care and product selection!

I've been a patient of Dr. Austin Meares for several years now. His office is on Richland St. near the Governor's Mansion. When you need a crown, he manufactures it while you're in the chair, so you only need the one visit. Great dentist and friendly staff. http://austinmeares.com/

Devine Eyes!
Leia C. replied:
The best thing about Devine Eyes is the amazing lady who takes you back for the preliminary stuff before you see the actual doctor. She is SO funny, and so nice, and just genuinely cares about everyone who comes in! I love her! I took my mother there when she was visiting from out of town after she burned her eyeball with peroxide, and even without an appointment they did everything they could to take care of her - including giving her samples of the (otherwise very expensive) prescription she would need!
Beth H. replied:
I have to recommend Earl Loftis at Eye on Gervais. Really wonderful optometrist - even left a Carolina baseball game and came to my home one time when I had a serious cornea injury (my husband was working, and I couldn't drive). Plus a good selection of glasses.

Devine Eyes is great!
Leia C. replied:
Ooh, yeah, so when it comes to buying glasses, I would 100% recommend www.zennioptical.com. I've been purchasing glasses from them for years! At first I thought it would be sketchy, since they are so cheap, but I've always taken my glasses in to the optometrist to have them put the glasses into their machine that checks prescriptions, and have never once had an issue. I've been a Zenni customer since around 2008! The reason why they are so cheap is because all of the materials needed to make glasses are actually incredibly cheap... it's just that people have huge markups to make huge profits.

We love Dr. Koher on Gregg St.
Lisa S. replied:
Caroline Gibbes.
Debbie M. replied:
Kelly Hynes Morris has taken care of me and my husband for years-she is the best!
Linda T. replied:
Dr. Pockl at Devine Eyes. He actually has his personal phone number as the emergency after hours number and he answers it! About a year ago, I was having an allergic reaction and called him at 3:00 A.M. on a Sunday. He picked up the phone and called in drops for me. Then he came in on Monday when he was supposed to have the day off, to check on me. You don't get that kind of service very often these days. He really cares about his patients. I won't go to anyone else.

Canting Optometry. I really like my eye care doctor and associates. My whole family has been using them for years. Dr. Canting is professional, honest, thorough and has a good sense of humor. I appreciate their attention to detail and they have been on board with the Covid precautions from the very beginning. http://www.drcanting.com/ I notice that their SSL certificate is some how hosed for their website. But as far as eye care goes they are top notch!

I Also was very unimpressed with my eye doctor, NC Eyes Associates has a few locations in the area and I was pleased with their service outside of their insistence on screening me for retinopathy since I was establishing care.

[https://www.eyecarecenter.com](https://www.eyecarecenter.com) We were also looking for alternatives to My eye Dr and found Eye center. I thought the were pretty good. The only issue I had was that they were booked and I had to wait 2-3 weeks for an appointment.
CynicalGenXer replied:
I had to use My Eye Dr because they accept my current insurance. The one on Kildaire Farm near Walmart is fine. But before that I went to the eye doctor in Costco in Apex and liked them more. My only grievance is that they force you to either pay for “digital” exam or put those nasty drops in your eyes to dilate. Also they are booked pretty solid too.
