I'm looking for a Gardener...yup..again. I went to the Files and will call Ramon...if he's still recommended? I have a feeling Darrell might be out of my league? I was...
Mary K. replied:
I hired Jesus Ochoa. I use him at two properties so price was a big factor. I find him to be like most gardeners, very good and attentive in the beginning and then a gradual decline. I don't like constantly reminding people to do things and I find I have to that now. I do like that his English is great, I think it's his first language (I don't mean to sound like a jerk but communication is important to me) and he definitely does the stuff I ask him to do well but I wish he consistently took care of stuff without me having to ask. Does that make sense? There's a guy that many people recommended but I forgot his name...maybe Armando? I think that's right. He was very nice and people seem consistently happy with him but his quote was the highest, by far, I have ever gotten for a gardener and I've met with many over the years for both properties. But I suppose you get what you pay for.
Gloria V. replied:
Linda Lu: Ramon used to be my gardener and like Megan Espinosa said, he did exactly opposite of everything I asked. He promised work but did not deliver. My son says that I am too patient and trusting. I finally found a gardener whom I have no problems recommending - Armando Gamino. He is on the list.
James B. replied:
Mary Kern is exactly right --- people do not seem to realize that if they want a premium service, they have to pay for it. One of my clients asked for a referral for a gardener, because they were extremely unhappy with theirs. I gave them the info for one of the best gardening services that I know, and they were astonished that he was going to charge triple what they were paying. I told them that if they want to pay crap, they will get crap. So now their yard looks like CRAP. The funny thing is that they just dropped over $250,000 on two new vehicles. I guess they value status more than they value their yard --- oh well.
