Okay so question, has anyone ever taken their pets to the Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic on otsego? Are they good? Nice? Not cheap but not too expensive? I'm looking to...
Marilyn W. replied:
I love Dr. Christy and staff. She is a great vet and truly loves her job! My Ebony is very comfortable with her. She will always be my vet. Very satisfied.
Althea A. replied:
We have always taken our pets to Dr. Butcher he is wonderful and the girl's are so friendly and caring. They also do grooming and Tammy is wonderful with them. All I have to do is say you want to go see Dr.Butcher and the girl's and they can't wait to get in the car.
Gabby T. replied:
I took my dog to them for all her puppy shots, very nice people but when my dog was 3 months old she had a seizure. I knew it was cause I had seen other dogs that had them when I called them they told me all her symptoms were normal and I knew my dog wasn't acting normal (they also couldn't get me in to check.) I called everywhere, when I called Dr. Darr's office the doctor himself got on the phone and said I'm getting ready to do a surgery but hurry here this sounds like an emergency I will wait for you to get here! Best experience Id say and they didn't charge me the emergency fee!
Gloria M. replied:

Dr. Jere Butcher is a genuine caring person and a great Vet. I have went to him for about 20 years. Carla Stocker's favorite are the guys out across from Walmart, Dr Darr I believe. Another great place. We are blessed as a community to have at LEAST 2 great vet clinics.
Tracy B. replied:
DR Darr is wonderful the best vet I think. she has even came to our house to look at a rabbit for us. She will even work with you on unexpected bills so you can make payments. I would never think of taking my border collie to anyone else.
Rachael S. replied:
Dr Darr works with the new Dr teaches them and they go on their way...sad yes it is BUT I have to say I don't think they could have a better teacher! she sends out some awesome Dr.'s
Trustina G. replied:
many of the vets are great and we all have wonderful things to say about the vets we use. Just as some think one is wonderful, others may not. meet with the vets and decide on your own. Personally I like Dr Christy Nicely on 83, and I like Dr Poland (a1 vet). I have dealt with the other vets in my area as well. This is my opinion on them and their staff. Dr Christy is wonderful with the animals, she truly cares. her assistant trish is amazing as well. If Dr Christy or Trish do not know the answer, they will search and ask and get back promptly. Dr Christy knows all my pets by name and ask about them. Trish and Christy have mourned with me when I have lost my beloved furbaby. Dr Bowen (same office as Dr Christy) is knowledgeable, quick to return a call or meet. I am not a fan of his assistant Gail. Not that she is rude. It seems to me she does the min required. Dr Poland has a lot of knowledge. He is also amazing with my furbabies. His staff is incredible and very friendly. Many times I have called and received answers over the phone, staff and the vets taking time out to answer my questions and do an interview with me (yes i like to meet the vets prior to my dogs meeting them). I am not a fan of Dr Darr's office. Dr Darr is knowledgeable and a no bser. The vets working in her office are good vets. Her office is cheaper and does have technology. However I do feel they run tests on dogs that are not required to be done. I feel they use fear/worry and the owners ignorance in order to perform tests that most vets would not suggest under the circumstances. If you do not have the money to pay, your dog will not be seen even if having a seizure in their office. I can not entirely blame them for not treating prior to payment as many I am sure will stiff them. Dr Butcher is a great vet, knowledgeable and listens. Some staff is ok, while others will have an attitude. I will say i am picky and demanding of my vets. I am not an easy person to get along with when ti comes to the care of my furbabies. I expect the staff to clean the room I will be in while I watch them do so, especially when I have a sick dog, or puppies. Communicable diseases are spread very easily. I feel if a staff member refuses to clean, gets an attitude then I do not want my dog there. I also feel if my pets are injured and must be hospitalized, i should have all rights to walk in and see them to ensure they are being treated properly. I expect a full detail report given to me as well as updates 2-3 times a day while my dog is under their care. I expect many things from my vets and their staff. I am not the easiest client they have. I can say Dr Christy and her assistant, along with Dr Poland, his partner and their staff are very accommodating to my demands, questions, and my worries. They remind em of an older vet's techniques with newer styles added in. They will drop what they are doing to meet me, to answer my calls. They encourage me to help participate in everything, explain things, give updates, detailed reports, and so forth. All the vets we have are good, do not mistake what I have read as if they are not good vets. I believe the staff are good as well, just some are better at their job and with their clients than others.

The original question was regarding Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic. In my opinion yes they are good and nice, charges are comparable to other vet offices in our area, I have taken my dog (which is my baby) to them since December 2008. I am sure that during that time someone has had a bad experience (as well as other offices). I would highly recommend Dr. Butcher and his staff.
