Liz G. replied:
Dr. Bob Sears, he doesn't accept insurance, although you can bill your insurance on your own.
Samantha A. replied:
Sears Pediatrics. Dr. Bill and his associates associates do take insurance. Dr. Bob does not take insurance. They are all okay with no vaccinations. I've never had any pressure of any sort. They are so supportive of breastfeeding and baby wearing. It's such a relief to have people in the medical field tell you that you are doing everything right instead of that you are nuts!

Dr. Aufdemberg in Irvine! I went to visit a few drs and none gave me the sense of confidence and tranquility like he did - plus his prices are not a rip-off like most out there. I haven't had my baby yet, but I picked him as my pediatrician!

Helpful LA parent or mom groups? My husband, toddler and I are moving to LA from the East Coast at the end of the summer. Does anyone know of online parenting or mom...
kevinmattress replied:
Do you know what area you’ll be moving to? LA is SO big and sprawling, I would recommend looking for groups that are specific to your neighborhood
checkerspot replied:
There are a lot of FB pages - LA Mommies is a big one. And you can join your local Nextdoor for more hyper local suggestions.
foodonmyplate replied:
Facebook has a Culver City Moms group that was always really helpful. I've missed it since I got off FB and have signed on a few times in the last couple years just to ask them questions about stuff. Of course that particular one is limited to CC but I'm sure every part of the city has it's own FB group for moms.

Facebook is probably going to be the most useful for you. I hate the site, but there's TONS of parenting/social groups on there.
professor-hot-tits replied:
If you're close to PCC, their parenting classes are kind of legendary and a great place to meet other parents
luv_u_deerly replied:
I can only add to the list of fun things to do with a toddler.
LACMA - they have a kids section in the museum and sometimes do special art events for children.
Tons of other fun museums - La Brea Tar Pits, Natural History Museum, CA Science Center, Skirball Cultural Center, Kidspace Children's Museum, etc. So many museums.
LA Zoo, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium(San Pedro), Aquarium of the Pacific (Down in Long Beach, a bit of a drive)
Going to the Santa Monica Pier is fun, they have some parks there and a mini aquarium called Heal the Bay Aquarium.
So so many nice parks all over the city.
There can also be a lot of little street fairs and Farmers Markets that pop up all over and sometimes they have bounce houses and little fun activities for the kids and even little carnival like rides.
You'll never run out of ideas of things to do with your kid here.
I was a nanny in Santa Monica for awhile and meet other parents and nannies very easily at the park and it was easy to make friends that way.
dontsaveher84 replied:
Check your local libraries for free toddler reading/play activities. Most are scheduled once a week. Also check your local city parks for toddler playgroups or classes.
throwawayyy189 replied:
Momsclub.org I found an extremely well-run and organized chapter. There are a ton of neighborhood chapters. They match you with a playgroup based on your child’s age and then send out invites to play dates. I met a lot of moms that way. Also, they usually have a Facebook group for the chapter, and all the hip LA moms are super active telling you all their recs.
RideForPie replied:
As a fellow relocating toddler mom, all this advice is super helpful - thank you! Time to reactivate FB.
chicknngt replied:
Try The Pump Station. They’re based out of Santa Monica, but I was just a part of one of they’re Mommy & Me (they call it “Parent & Me”) groups, and I really liked it.
dialleft replied:
This is not for everybody and was pre-FB - my wife approached moms with similar aged kids in the local grocery store to create a combination playgroup and mom support group. Crazy but it worked very well.

Can anyone recommend a good orthopedic doctor near us?
My morning is shot! I was going to make an appt. with someone for Sean, and he can't see us until next month. ...
Amy A. replied:
I second Newport Ortho. Any of their docs are wonderful - I would see one of the 2 sports specialists. I think there is a wing there named on behalf of Alex (if only they gave frequent flyer points!)
Tehnaz R. replied:
Okay, Newport Orthopedic it is: Alex's wing:) Thank you for all your input. The guy I talked to at the office recommended Dr. Gazzaniga, after listening to Sean's history. Thank you Kirk Bauermeister, and Amy Adkisson for your input. I think everyone should have a glass of wine tonight, and then say Gazzaniga 10 times really fast.
I'm looking for a pediatrician recommendation in south county. I love the kid's doctor but it's getting to be too far to drive.

Mamas in Long Beach, CA ~ any recommendations for a natural-minded or holistic pediatrician?
Heather K. replied:
I am not sure how holistic minded he is all in all but Dr. Alexander Maneffa is at lease flexible with vaccines, which is important to us. Our baby has only had his 1 st and 2 week appointments so far but we really like him!
