My husband reminded me - does anyone remember Tonys shoe repair in CDM? He would bring his elk colored sperry topsiders in to be rebuilt and re soled.

I was managing the Norm Meager's store in Fashion Island when they opened their little location on the parking lot along with a hair salon and Pete' Barber Shop right outside our back door.

Mary...Norm was the founder of Phelps Meager. The Phelps came in a merger, as I recall. My mom was in Jr League of Long Beach with Norm's wife, Susie, in the 50's before we moved to NB in '59. Their son, Kent, married my Dad's 2 nd wife's daughter, Midge. I ran into Norm & Susie at Keedy's in Palm Desert on a winter morning a few years ago. They had 2 gorgeous Golden Retrievers that were "parked" outside in the shade with a water dish, greeting guests. Great people!

That's really an interesting story John. We never knew that. That was a very classy store. My husband purchased his suit in 1972 after graduating from Chapman. We didn't have much money but my father helped him. My Dad said it was THE best men's store in the area. Of course Halliday's and Atkinson were great also. Thank you for the info.
