We just moved to indiana about a month ago and just recently found out we are expecting our 3rd. Can anyone recommend a good obgyn/midwife. Someone who is ok with us...

I am not an admin of the group but here is a link to it. https://m.facebook.com/ImprovingBirthNWI My doula was Celeste Chapko. She is a music therapist and incorporates that with her doula care. It made a significant difference during labor for me. I'll look up her contact info for you.

I see Bernie Price through St. Anthony's. She is great! I usually have to bring my other 2 children to prenatal appointments with me (ages 4 and 2) and she is SO good with them! She also does all of her own coverage, so unless she is out of town, you won't have some random person delivering your baby.
Christina I. replied:
Ashley Morgan, the doctors and midwife at Crown Point OB all rotate and cover for each other. So, your chances of getting the doctors you chose is 1/4. You could end up with Behnke, Cataldi, McMahon, or McCormick. When Bernie is out of town, Sheryl Behnke covers for her, typically. Sheryl's "on call" day is Thursday, so if you see Bernie and go into labor on a Thursday, you'll get Sheryl. I only know all this because I used to go to Crown Point OB, but I switched to Bernie because of issues I had with their office. They were great when I had my son there 2 years ago, but recently, they seemed to have lots of organization issues....they lost my blood work....twice!

I loved Shannon Markle, CNM and at St. Mary's Hospital in Hobart. She is very supportive of water births, too. She just delivered my second child about two weeks ago, and she ensured a natural and safe delivery for both baby and me despite shoulder dystocia. I cannot say enough good things about her professionally or her genuine personal interest in your well being that is evident in her bedside manner. I also had a fantastic doula I can recommend. I am coming from the perspective of having had a negative experience with the birth of my first child (in Ohio) with rough medical care that was not mother or baby oriented. I ended up having a long recovery and he ended up in NICU. Do you know about the Improving Birth NWI chapter? They have a FB page and can likely make some recommendations, too.

Crown point Obgyn I can't say enough good things about both my deliveries. Dr McMahon delivered my first and Cheryl Behnke the midwife just delivered my second. Both supported exactly what we wanted. I'd highly recommend either of them. Even at the hospital the nurses that did my paperwork asked if I wanted anything for pain and if we wanted hep b vacc and just said ok No problem when we said no.

Bernie Price! Without a doubt. I kept getting pressured at cp ob. So I switched to Bernie at 34 weeks.

I used Dr. Wiess for dd and now I'll be using him for this pregnancy, too. He's in Crown Point and while his humor is kind of dry sometimes, he always listens to me and what I want. He never pushed meds on me, either, but gave me the option if I wanted them. I don't know about the no vaccines thing, but he doesn't do episiotomies unless absolutely necessary.
