I'm in the same boat, I know a few people that have had it and it did not help. Research Dr's. I'm not saying it won't work for you. Check health boards.com and get some feedback. My back pain is one of my biggest issues. I wish you the very best.

They are doing more back surgery with lasers. Check here to see if they have more info. on it. www.laserspineinstitute.com. I know my mom had back and neck surgery years and years ago.. and she did fine!

I have had two back surgeries. The first was a microdiscetomy and the 2nd was a spinal fusion same spot (L4,,L5, & S1). Fusion did not help. But I did not wake up paralyzed. My first surgery was scarey because I woke up not able to move my right leg. Took about 6 hours before I could move it but I was up and walking that night with the help of the IV pole. And very short after that walking just fine. Released next day and to get to my apt I had to walk up 32 steps and it was a steep staircase. I was sore but ok. I'd do a lot of research on the procedure AND the doctor. I also have degenerative disc disease. What type of surgery do they want to do? I've had a spinal cord stimulator implanted in my back to reduce the amount of pain I'm in. If you haven't heard of the stim please look it up. I had two close friends who had it done before I had mine done. So I was able to ask a ton of questions. My spinal fusion was done both in the front and the back like Pam Manela. However my Neurosurgeon sucked. I have a cage, titanium rods and screws in my lower back. Did nothing with my disc and I have not been the same since. Always good to reach out to others when you have questions like these good job.
