We have the same issue. We use Mid Cities Pest Control (817) 354-5350. At the first sign of wasps, We use a large piece of cardboard and tape it around the fireplace until the pest guys come. They have told us there is not a prevention. The amount of wasps that fall down after they spray is a little disconcerting. Easily a hundred. After they spray we leave the cardboard on for a week or so and then tentatively take it down. We sometimes have a few stragglers fly in but they are pretty weak. Ick!

I've used James Shands james@chimneymasterdallas.com to clean my fireplace a few years back but I keep getting nests every year so now he's coming back and installing a chimney cap and cleaning in the next week or so... i shopped around and he's by far the best price... i called someone else who had a better price but then was told my chimney is taller so the price is different.... so came back to Chimney masters
