Does anyone know of a seamstress/tailor who can sew denim jeans from scratch? Hi all!
I've been looking through the internet and on craigslist trying to find someone...
Ichtragebrille replied:
I can, but it won't be cheap. I'm a seamstress in Addison. You can view my portfolio at www.amandamayfield.com and reply if you're interested. A number of Dallas redditors can testify to my skill.
LexTanVB replied:
It's really tough because the fabric itself is hard to work with. You may want to just buy a larger pair with the fabric you like, and have it altered, it should be cheaper that way. Of course some Vietnamese tailors online will do the work based on your measurements and ship it over. I like their work, usually not their choice of fabric though.

Realistically shouldn't any tailor anywhere be able to do this? It doesn't seem like it would be very hard.

What fucking year is this? It's called Amazon.com
cheeto44 replied:
What you want is a bespoke tailor. Don't know one myself but google a bit for that term.
darlini replied:
As someone who sews I don't think your request is that unreasonable, demin is not that difficult of a fabric to deal with for anyone with sewing experience. We're talking about a pair of jeans here, not a wedding dress, and people get those custom made all the time. Try reaching out to the colleges that offer fashion programs, maybe an experienced student could help you out.

My girlfriend has been working on a pair for someone but apparently it's a huge pain in the ass. If you find someone who does it, make sure to make it up to them.
UA34 replied:
Barneys used to do this through levis. i had a pair made for me custom made in NY.

Margo West - she's in Deep Ellum. Google Margo West Bridal Alterations.

Here you go.. https://www.facebook.com/pages/icanSEWdothat/256937891020717 She's done custom work for me before and the pricing is fair.. she can do it pretty quickly as long as she doesn't have other things going on.

A friend of mine often makes jeans from scratch and sells them in a few local places. PM if interested.
pollyatomic replied:
You could learn to do it yourself at [Make + Made](http://www.themakesite.com). Or just call them because they can definitely connect you with someone who can do this for you.
If you own your own business please give me the name of your business and type of business here. I want to give you a shout out.

ISO seamstress that can do alterations on two dresses. I need to add sleeves I need them by the 4 August.

Art Tailor on Mockingbird. They make custom men's suits so I'm sure they can do sleeves for you. Unique is too much of a mob scene and their stitching has fallen out on me too many times!
