Places to run at night? With gyms closing down and it getting dark at 4:30, I’m looking for a good running route to stay active.
Does anyone know of a public track or...
MentalOmega replied:
In case you don’t have one, a headlamp is invaluable for nighttime running. Not only does it help you see, but it makes you very visible too.
oldoldoak replied:
I believe all HS tracks are open to the public and are generally well lit.

Pointofive replied:
I’m sure you’ve got great sidewalks and side streets nearby.
ericid replied:
At night I use to run the Burke Gilman between Fremont and U-Village. It's generally pretty busy with plenty of street lights throughout that stretch. I felt safe.
StuckStepmom replied:
All I gotta say is Volunteer Park at night is both fuckin spooky and a great place to run (although not well lit).
Lord_Aldrich replied:
Regardless of route I really highly recommend a good headlamp and one of these: https://www.noxgear.com/tracer360 I run a lot, and I have a lot of runner friends, and we all use the above. Wouldn't be able to make it through the winter without them!
axos23 replied:
Sculpture Park/Centennial Park area is pretty safe. Bring a good light and you're fine. Typically a good amount of folks out and about.
SlagathorJrJr replied:
Not sure where you are in the city, but: * Madison from the Arboretum to Madison Park. Pretty chill, mostly lit. Decent number of side routes through the neighborhood to extend. * Lk WA Blvd - pretty solid trails from Mt. Baker to Seward Park. Also possible to extend up to Leschi/Madrona. Lighting is a mixed bag. * Blue Ridge neighborhood. Plenty of well lit loops up there, along with nice views of the Sound. * Perimeter Road@Boeing Field. Little off the beaten path, but can combine with a route starting in Georgetown. As noted, a headlamp is a great thing. And good luck!
sammisamantha replied:
A lot of people have been running at Seattle U and SPU around the track.
The_Kraken_ replied:
The [stay healthy streets](https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/stay-healthy-streets) throughout the city are a good start. Many of them connect up with each other, so you can run for ~miles on city streets. Not everything is super well-lit, but they're better than the Burke Gilman or Interurban, imo. As for tracks, most high schools have a track that is partially open to the public.
TupacLivesInFremont replied:
The sports field at Cal Anderson is well lit and relatively clean.
