Depending on the dollar value at stake, it may make more sense to take him to small claims court. You can also contact the texas consumer complaint center and they can put you on the right course of action: http://www.texasccc.com/

If you get results, I'd like to know. One of my friends paid five figures to get a house started and the contractor just refused to do any work. After lawyers, it was termed a 'dispute' and the contractor was not forced to return any money.
I have a friend in need of a good divorce attorney. Please share your experiences, who is really good, who to avoid.

Even if everything is very amicable and the couple know exactly how they want everything, I strongly suggest getting a lawyer to look over the proposed agreement and make sure it's good, especially if children and/or sizable assets are involved. There may come a time when things aren't so amicable and you want to try to avoid a lawyer being able to rip it apart. New spouses, children, financial situations etc. can result in people "changing their minds". Kelly Penn Skenesky is a lawyer I would recommend. Right here in Flo Mo but that's not why I'm recommending her.

There's the BEST...and then there's the rest. If you want the best, hire Brian Tackett at Hayes, Berry, white and VanZant in Denton. He is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by less than 1% of the attorneys in the State of Texas. He was voted Best of Denton County 2013. He is honest, professional, and ethical. http://www.hbwvlaw.com/attorneys/brian-k-tackett/

Brook Stuntebeck at KoonsFuller in Denton is amazing. I have used her throughout my divorce/custody case since 2009 & every other time he's taken me back to court. I've always had excellent results with her.

I have personally watched Duane Coker of Coker Legal in Denton do a consult for a client and then watched him in court. He is a detail oriented attorney with incredible knowledge of the law. His professionalism and delivery of the case in court was impressive and he was able to really take care of his client. I highly recommend him. Tell him I referred you
