Linda, spend some time at the Denver Botanic Gardens where there are several beautiful gardens dedicated to native plants and those which provide nectar and seed sources for wildlife and pollinators. The Plant Select Garden is a very good place to start. It is a wonderful program that trials plants for front range Colorado that are especially adapted to our high, dry steppe. I would be glad to give a tour to you to show options( I am a retired horticulturist and a docent at the gardens). In the meantime, check out the Plant Select website:http://plantselect.org/

I agree with Katie about using branches or something unique with the flowers. We had used Red Dogwood branches from our garden and it was beautiful. They are creative and will think outside of the box for you so that you can make your budget.
