Therapist recommendations? Didn't know where else to post this since it's somewhat of a personal topic -- I also don't trust the general Google and "psychology today"...

I see a resident psychiatrist in training, Dr. Hays, at the Tulane Behavioral Health Clinic at Tulane Hospital. If you see a resident, it's completely free. Call them up and talk to Miss Dru, she'll set you up with a doctor. Parking is also free at the hospital for patients if you park in one of the garages and get it validated by the clinic. I park in the LaSalle garage and always ask for a validation ticket when I sign in.

If you have insurance and plan to go through that, it’s actually way easier to search online for what therapists take your insurance and go from there. If you plan to pay out of pocket, that’s not really relevant, but thought to say.

Jennie Walsh is a good LCSW. Bill McDermott is a Ph.D. who works with trauma. Both excellent.

I had a really bad experience at Atlas. I can't remember the doctor's name other than he was a guy who seemed to be on the younger side of middle-aged. He accused me of lying about substance abuse (I had stopped drinking for a month prior to the appointment to see if it would help my anxiety and depression), he seemed to be actively trying to poke holes in my story about my abusive ex ("I thought you said he was _____, now you're saying he did _____!" When the two weren't at all mutually exclusive things). He refused to prescribe me any type of anxiety medication because he was sure I'd abuse it.

I’m with Emily DeLeonardo at Ochsner. She’s young-ish and very down to earth. You can also use HealthGrades.com to read people’s reviews; I found that helpful when selecting my provider team.

I see a couple of doctors (for therapy and meds) that work at Garden District Mental Health at Jackson and Saint Charles. Highly, HIGHLY recommend. There are 3 doctors there I believe, I see two of them and they got my boyfriend set up with the third. Have been going there for over a year, it's a great practice.
Work question: does anyone have any strong recommendations for a sex therapist in Denver?

Denise Onofrey, http://startanewtoday.com. While I haven't worked with her myself, I have met her on several occasions, and I know people who have found her help beneficial.

Margaret, got this from a Hippocampbus Burner... She said she doesn't recognize any of the names, so can't make a specific rec, but "any of the people on there should be great" ... xoxo http://www.aasect.org/find-professional/2/CO/T
