Franklin Barber Shop. They moved off Franklin Street, up on Beaver Avenue now. Good people.

Try Franklin Barbers in Beaverdale. They do beards and they know a real barber has a sharp straight blade. Have a beer while you wait. If you want a more traditional shop that’s like what your grampa used, Roosevelt barbers on 42 nd give a good cut. Google or Yelp either to get a better idea of how they compare.

My husband goes to Roosevelt Barbers in the strip mall on 42 nd across from the high school. 15 bucks. They’re old school, but definitely a hidden gem. They always do a great job. He has a funky cowlick situation in the back that can be hard to tame. Anyway, not sure on the beard situation as my husband doesn’t have a beard.

This question comes up so often I feel like it should get added to the subs sidebar. The answers are always Paramount, Franklin, and Universal. Ive been going to Universal Kutz for probably two years now and really like it. They have maybe 8-10 barber and once you find one you like they all do appointments. Franklin is cool but they don't do appointments and there's always a wait so I only went there once or twice before I decided I didn't have time for that shit. Paramount is good too, universal is just closer to my office.

Commenting separately but echoing a previous poster-- Paramount in the East Village is fantastic.

Been going to [Nice Guy Ian](http://www.niceguyian.com/#intro) for years. He's super talented, knows the styles, and is an easy-going dude. Totally fits your requirements. Does line ups, too.

I go to Paramount (Paul) for my hair. When I feel like manly treat I go to Franklin for a classic wet shave. Honestly both are fantastic, I moved to paramount for my hair because they take appointments.
