Thank you all for your suggestions, however the dog need to be home and cameras all around the house with high security entrance being monitored could do the job. Alternatively could your friend make an arrangement with someone she knows and TRUSTS who has a pet. That person could come in each day to look after the kitty for her. She could then return the favour when that person is travelling.
