Love the Sandbeck. Stayed there every Regatta week for the past 5 years. Excellent service and breakfasts. Humble Pie for dinner. Silver Street for fish/chips, Old Lifeboat for a good laugh.

Beckett's has the best customer service I think I've ever experienced and the food is delicious. Marine bar is similar, excellent staff and top quality breakfast. Teare Wood's ice cream is fantastic. Humble pie and mash serves the best pies I've ever tasted. Spoilt for nice pubs - the station, fleece, first in last out, black horse, elsinore. Porto Pizza do reliably lovely pizzas if you want a change from excellent fish&chips from Quayside/Magpie.

Ali and Pete Thomson at the White Linen greeted us like long lost buddies. Julie at Beckett's Coffee shop serves the best cake ever. All the staff in The Quayside are friendly and extremely efficient and on the rare occasions that they aren't busy will happily give advice to tourists on what to see in Whitby. The landlord and landlady and the staff in The Elsinore always greet you with a smile. The lady in the craft shop in The Shambles is always friendly and helpful. The staff in Justins are soooooo patient and lovely no matter how long I take to decide what to buy. The people in Black Market are very knowledgeable and helpful. I could go on as I've never come across anyone in Whitby that's not pleasant or helpful.

I think that proves a point I raised earlier Lisa, about people only remembering the negative. I would say if you went through the last weeks posts you would find significantly more positive than negative topics, yet people say the page is negative. Whats worse is some of the positive posts dont get a single comment made on them. I can never weigh that up, but peoples thirst for negative is very evident, and they dont even realise it untill you point it out. Look at this link below. I posted this yesterday. Little lad beats all the adults, catches a great fish, not a single comment. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204203048738491&set=gm.1453603224878403&type=1

Hi Eithne and Happy Easter. I would suggest The Old Rectory on the Herbert road. It is very beautiful and in a lovely locality. Only 20 minutes walk to the centre or 3 minutes on the bus. 01 2867515 ( I googled numbered for you)
