Hi thanks for the add.
We have been researching moving to the costa del sol for quite some time (years in fact), we visited San Pedro De Alcantera a few weeks ago,...

Ann. We have a big hospital at Antequera. It a big town. Don't no if you have been there. Also we have used the Drs and hospital here and Dentist and the care we recived was second to none. Our hospital in the uk could do with taking a leaf out of there books. We didnt pay a penny. Only for the prescription. Which if you take the receipt back to the dr tge next day they give you the money back. Plus my prescription in England was costing me £8 here I can buy over the counter for 2 euro. We are 20 mins from the hospital. It so central here in Alameda to get anywhere fast. My hubby just used his ni card for eye test and didn't pay hes not a pensioner yet. We def have no private insurance.

Well done Gillian for doing your research beforehand, so many people don't and fall flat on their faces. If you don't want to drive I have to agree with Freya, that Los Boliches or Fuengirola would be ideal for you as we have a fantastic bus and train service; regular and cheap. It is also very flat, unlike Benalmadena (thinking 20 years ahead when you might not be so mobile). Rentals in this area for 2/3 beds average €550 pcm and usually include Community fees and town hall taxes. You should only be responsible for electric; water and internet. Agree with previous comments that San Pedro is expensive in comparison and Alhaurin too far inland and a dreadful bus service to the coast (you said you wanted to be near the coast). Los Boliches is very British but also very cosmopolitan with equal numbers of Spanish and Scandinavians. I hope this helps and good luck with wherever you choose.

Gillian York, internet is usually either via landline or wifi. We use wifi, have no problems skyping friends/family, and the costs are reasonable. Do your homework first on suppliers - not all are reliable or trustworthy!

True, Lorraine Russell, for all of us inlanders, but if they want something close to the coast, our great inland villages would probably not do. It's also worth considering what might be important to you in 5 or 10 year's time. For example, we aren't pensioners either, but if you need a hospital test or something, it's over an hour to get there. We can't use the "NHS" here, because we aren't pensioners. Private healthcare great, but all the clinics/hospitals in the network are a fair drive away - something to consider as you get older.
