Can anyone recommend any jewellers to make a custom ring? Evening Reddit!
I'm looking to have a ring made in 9ct gold with opal. Been trying to find independent makers...

It's very pretty. You'll do well to trawl through the yellow pages for jewellers who make custom pieces. There is something left of the jewellery quarter in Birmingham where you might find a goldsmith. Other than that you could ask around some Indian jewellers as they might do something. Can I suggest you get it in something better than crummy 9 k? For a custom piece you might end up paying hundreds so why not get it in 18 k or 24 k and get some big fat diamonds, then you can really show it off.

1. Where are you? 2. A good jeweller should be able to make the ring that you want if you show them photos. They make the styles they make because that's what sells here, not because that's all they can make.

I don’t have any advice on jewellers but if you’re not already aware, opals are a quite soft gemstone and aren’t ideal for every day wear like an engagement ring. Obviously good care and removing for certain activities will go a long way but just FYI. Edit: there is a r/engagementrings sub

There’s an online company called Alba Rose that makes custom jewellery - not used myself but heard a lot of good things. They help you through the design process and even send a dummy version of your design before you go ahead

My wedding ring was designed and made by the jeweller from whom we bought my engagement ring. I don't know if they still do that sort of thing. Maybe do a search for bespoke jewellers uk There's quite a lot of hits https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=bespoke+jewellers+uk

Jacqueline and Edward made our wedding rings using materials we chose, we didn’t do much in terms of design innovation but we’re pleased with the result.

Maybe a big brand like H.Samuels can do it? They’re a massive jewellers I’m sure they’ll have working jewellers and goldsmiths. If not then Most jewellers will be able to do it for you if they have a working jeweller

Depends where you are. An independent one made mine in Worcester. There is the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, with independent jewellers every 10 yards. Take your pick
