Have you tried care.com? They run background checks and provide references upon request. There is a small fee I believe to sign up but in my opinion it's worth it. You can either search the available providers or post the job and have them contact you. They have section for special needs as well, I've had good experience in the past with the site, my son has Autism, so it was a lifesaver on some occasions. Also if your provider happens to cancel, they have an option of posting a last minute ad for a back up provider if you ever need one. Hope that helps!

A relative had signed up under care.com as a provider. I honestly could not believe she passed the background check from them even after CPS had removed her own children from her due to possession of rock cocaine and child endangerment! Please run your own background checks on top of the ones done from the company you choose to go through. Your beautiful angels are at stake!

That's what I do as well, several interviews, independent background check, references etc. before we even consider. El Paso is not abundant with special needs providers, El Paso, TX' class='name_reco'>El Papaleo is the only day care center I know of that specializes in children with special needs but of course they are restricted to their location, no pick ups or drop offs.
