How long will you be here? do you have a upper end daily budget you are targeting? Also, if you don't know Adam, October is the heaviest rain month of the CR rainy season, and 'in general", the further north Guanacaste coast you are, the less rain, the further south, Quepos to Dominical, will be the most rain. We stayed at Cabinas Iguana in Cahuita. $80 per night for a three bedroom casita. It was fully equipped, very nice pool, android surrounded by capybaras. 5 minute walk to Playa Negra, 10 minute drive to Cahuita National Park for some awesome snorkeling

The problem with the health coverage is that anything "fun" that you do that may be the reason for the injury or accident is usually the loophole they have not to cover it. Read it carefully. Zip line,parachute, hand gliding....they all have an escape clause for the insurance company. That being said, we did an annual plan through TD Canada trust for the family. Cost $161 for 6 of us for the year (17 day trips maximum) and included trip insurance coverage. Can't beat that
