I just received the 8th? 9th? 12th? Denial from OHP to cover necessary surgery for Poppy. I have jumped through every hoop, spent days and days writing appeals and...

Noelle, talk with Jenn Burleton of TransActive. She has vast experience and contacts dealing with OHP/insurance issues, albeit for a different cause. She is very well known across the country. She also happens to be a great friend of ours. Please use my name as a recommendation.

Yes, syndactyly release. Here is my latest appeal letter: In the matter of Poppy Myers, claimant & Health share of Oregon The intent of this letter is to file exceptions to be considered by the administrator in issuing the final order. Health share Oregon denied the request for coverage in Boston by Dr. Brian Labow based on their conclusions that there were surgeons in network who could perform the surgery. Section 7 in findings of fact states that health share provided the names of two surgeons within this network who were willing to see the claimant. I have since corresponded with both surgeons named, neither of which were able to provide evidence or statement that they had successfully performed the procedure on a child with Apert Syndrome and received the results shown continually by Dr. Brian Labow. Furthermore the office staff of both surgeons had never heard of Apert Syndrome, one of whom, by the name of Wendy, who has been scheduling for Dr. layman for over 19 years. Dr. Layman's office was unable to schedule any consult less than two months out. Dr. layman did finally respond saying that he was "unwilling to take her case on as he used to do this type of surgery but would be retiring soon and wouldn't be available for follow-up." His only referral was to Dr. Bueller (who I have already visited and stated he could not give Poppy 5 fingers and made comments about how "gnarly" my child's hands would look if someone tried). The office of Dr. Clifford Canepa had me repeat "syndactyly" three times and spell it as she was unfamiliar with the condition. I emailed a request for consultation per scheduling's (Charlotte Pullen) request and aid not hear back. I phones again twice and was told they did not receive my email. I resent it and am still awaiting a response from him. These are not comforting factors when considering handing a child, my child, over to a surgeon. I beg you to consider the costs to be incurred by following through with attending consults and appointments with these surgeons, not to mention the risk of exposing my immunocompromised toddler to further unnecessary hospital and clinic visits. Dr. Layman office refuses to send anything in writing but said they would be happy to speak with care Oregon/health share directly to explain why he WILL NOT perform this surgery. (503) 297-1323Dr. Layman Please take into consideration the time and efforts that all of the paperwork and phone calls and emails take away from my family. My children deserve better. All I am trying to do is give my daughter the opportunity to be treated by a competent, informed, and willing surgeon who is familiar with this surgery and syndrome. Thank you, Noelle Myers PostScript - Dr. Canepa and his associates failed to return any of my phonecalls and did not, after promising, answer or respond in any way to my email.

Zach, I work for Safeway and that is INEXCUSABLE! I am totally embarrassed! I have filled in at that store and know where the bottle area is and it is not safe. Steve Gray is the district manager and he lives locally. Our district store is the Thurston store. I do not have Steve's email address but am sure I could get it. I am so sorry about that happening! Ridiculous!
