We have used Mt McKinley for over 40 years they take very good care of you even when we had to put down our 19 yr old retired sled dog they was so caring and thoughtful they do a paw print for you.

North Pole Vet is amazing!!
Didder T. replied:
My sister this past week had to get her cats leg amputated and Mt.McKinley quoted her between $1100-$1400 plus she had to buy her cat her pain meds which was only $14 but anywho, she then went to Aurora Animal Clinic to get a second opinion and they quoted her between $400-$500 including pain meds. She went with Aurora and her cat is doing great and this is 5 days post-op. I don’t have anything against Mt.Mckinley but Aurora is great and budget friendly.
Sheralyn B. replied:
Dr. Dee was our vet when I lived there. She's amazing! http://alaskanoahsark.com
Brenda G. replied:
Mt McKinley they are awesome every time we took our chevy there they were awesome
Ascension R. replied:
There is also an After Hours Emergency Vet clinic on 8 Bonnie St, 479-2700. We have used them once and happy with the care provided.

James D. replied:
The trip to Aurora is worth it and North Pole people go there everyday. It's only mentioned as an option. The owner, Dr Cole has a great staff and Some people would rather travel then to go to North Pole Vet. I personally love them both.
Are there any Mobile Veterinarians in Fairbanks? We have an amazing one here in the South of Alaska but will be moving to Fairbanks next week. I prefer a Mobile Vet over...

Sarah G. replied:
We absolutely love Animal House! We started at North Pole Vet, and they charged me $300 to almost kill my kitten. Dr. Dee saved our kitten, and my dog loves them!
Ronnie L. replied:
Aurora Animal Clinic... always took good care of my Akitas
Lisa G. replied:
Dr Eberle at Goldenheart Vet is really good with my 14 1/2 yr old German shepherd mix. So is Dr Nauta and Dr May. Last few visits there's been GSD's and GSD mixes there when I've taken my boy in. He's got bad arthritis in his hips and Dr Eberle and Dr Nauta have truly listened to me about it. My previous vets didn't listen even when I was explicitly telling them he is in pain and struggling.
Does anyone out there know of someone who does in-home care? ( for people :) ) Need help at home for my mom.
Shauna took a step backwards today. Has refused water...
Theresa S. replied:
There is a place above where I used to work...it's in the Northern Lights Building upstairs. They have CNAs or at least people that come out to houses to help. The business is called Ready Care located at 3407 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 (907) 456-4524

Rachel K. replied:
907-361-3013 is their number. Both my dogs have seen the FWW vet and have had awesome experiences. They have comparable prices to the animal shelter for vaccinations and microchips. I'd give them a call to confirm prices.
We just moved here and my dog is having some issues with one of her paws. Any suggestions for veterinarians? I also appreciate any "stay away from" suggestions.
Alison C. replied:
Dr Flamme at Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital. All the doctors are good there really.
Cathy P. replied:
I took my dog to Mt McKinley today. They got me right in for an emergency visit. The price was reasonable and they explained everything to me. I was very happy with the way they took care of my dogs paw.
Tabatha M. replied:
Love dr Cole at Aurora Animal Hospital! She's so great, dr Webb too! I personally found them more caring and affordable than Mt. McKinley... but everybody's experiences are different.
Diana L. replied:
I prefer Aurora Clinic...but in my opinion we have no "bad" vets in Fairbanks or North Pole.
Jon M. replied:
Mother Nature will take care of her own. Hair will grow her pads of her feet

Jerome F. replied:
My pup goes to Mt. McKinley as well
Sarah W. replied:
I second, Dr Flamme at Mt Mckinley! He is amazing! Golden heart Vet is the worst! I would never ever bring my dog there if they were the last Vet in town. They almost let my 12 year old lab die and made us believe she had cancer for almost a year before we got a second opinion with Mt. McKinley.
Gibran S. replied:
Aurora Animal Clinic
Lisa P. replied:
We are very lucky to have many veterinarians with good references. My personal negative experience was with North Pole Vet across from Sourdough on Badger. Otherwise it's more of who's rates are most reasonable for your budget.:)
Kimberly C. replied:
Dr Kuhn at Mt McKinley Animal Hospital, he's amazing with my dog, I'll also be bringing my new puppy to him in a few weeks.
Janelle O. replied:
Always Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital. We see Dr. Flamme.

Lynn M. replied:
Grant, those clinics are only in the lower 48. Wish I could bring you one! Doesn't seem fair that we have to pay so much. I love Dr. Maddox at Aurora. She's my neighbor and goes the extra mile for her patients.
Justin M. replied:
2 nd for MtMckinley working with payments. Dr. Flamme just did an ACL repair for our Setter and I couldn't be more impressed with the work and followup from them. You pay for what you get. Dr. Olson did a spay on a pup I had years ago and was great, just not practical for me to go to North Pole for vet stuff.
Christine N. replied:
Animal Control Fall Rabies clinic will be $9 pre registered. October 13.
Molly N. replied:
Dr Heywood at Mt McKinley Animal Hospital
Joanna S. replied:
Dr Olson at raven vet clinic off hollowell in np. She rocks and is way affordable. Hard to get ahold of though
Grant C. replied:
Thanks ladies. I will wait till October for the shots. I think Doc Olson is the one I've been trying to get an appt. Yes, hard to get. Thanksagain y'all
Ally B. replied:
Dr Olson! Just drive out there. Or call everyday.
Kristi G. replied:
I love Mt McKinley clinic. Dr Deleon is awesome. Have been taking my pets there since I was a kid and still take them there.
Ally B. replied:
I love Dr Deleon as well, but it's a high end clinic.
Looking for suggestions for a good vet for our dog? Preemptive thanks to all that comment:)

Sine A. replied:
Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital is our vet. We went through several before we found them. They have several vets there, so they are open seven days a week. You can get same day appointments. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable, and they are super compassionate people. I highly recommend them to you!
Susan L. replied:
We have always taken our fur babies to North Pole Veterinary Hospital.
Hannah E. replied:
Golden heart veterinary services. Dr May is the best and the staff is super kind. I've been taking my dogs there for the last 8 almost 9 years
Susan R. replied:
I took my girl to North Pole Veterinary Hospital today on an emergency basis for a severe ear infection. We were seen within an hour with medication prescribed and they were terrific!! The vet that I have used since 2011 could not give us an appointment until Friday. Otherwise it was $69 just to walk in the door. NP was terrific ... my girl got good care and is on the mend. I highly recommend North Pole Veterinary Hospital.
Alexandra R. replied:

I know this was recently posted, but I can't find it....best vet recommendations in Fairbanks? Prices for their office visits if you know them, too. Thanks!
Bryan J. replied:
Aurora animal. Dr Maddox.
Kristie C. replied:
Dr. Lovely at North Pole!
Julie N. replied:
Mt McKinley. They are amazing. Four cats and four dogs agree!
Kimberlee B. replied:
Price should not be how you choose a vet. I am a DVM but not in private practice any more. I take my dogs to Aurora or Mt McKinley.
Crystal B. replied:
We really love Golden Heart. I understand being cost conscious - believe me, I really do, but please don't ever make a vet choice based on price. I did years ago and lost a pet because of it. Golden Heart on University is a wonderful place to go and they spell out all their prices along the way and even tell you what things aren't necessary.
Maggie C. replied:
Have used Dr.. Dee at Animal House on Peger since I moved to town almost 30 years ago. Have had several old and sick animals that I believe lived longer because of the care we received from her.
Anna S. replied:
I got to North Pole I like all the vets. Prices are high. But comparable to others such as McKinley vet which I also know a vet tech there who is amazing and shares good things about her place.
Tiffany G. replied:
North Pole vet or McKinley Animal hospital. Prices are actually comparable to other vets. The things I needed done for my elderly cat were actually cheaper at McKinley than aurora. No prices off the top of my head, but they have a website and wonderful brochure with all of the info. McKinley is open weekends too, major bonus.
Justin A. replied:
Dr. Mark May at Golden Heart Veterinary Svcs. is one of the best canine vets I've ever met. Couldn't recommend him higher.
