The Cedar Run Inn is just about exactly halfway; it is run by a wonderful couple, Stan and Charlotte Dudkin (570-353-6241); good meals offered in their beautiful dining room. Along the trail, in order from north to south, sights include marshland with waterfowl, junction of Marsh Creek with Pine Creek at Ansonia, CCC Camp sign and ruins just below Darling Run rest area, Turkey Path base down from Leonard Harrison State Park (nice access to rocks along Pine Creek there), Tiadaghton Campground (restrooms and beautiful flat access to Pine Creek), Village of Blackwell (with its Miller's general store and Hershey's ice cream), Hoffman Campground (beautiful, least unknown area just below Blackwell, Rattlesnake Rock Parking Access (with restrooms and a path that goes out to Rattlesnake Rock), Cedar Run General Store (with its delicious Perry's ice cream, from New York State), Slate Run (with its fascinating Wolfe's General Store and the Hotel Manor Restaurant across the bridge, with its deck beside Pine Creek), Utceter Cemetery (right along the trail below Slate Run, with its graves all from the 1800s), Black Walnut Bottom Campground (with restrooms down the path from the trail), Jersey Mills post office at Callahan Run bridge, Waterville's Tavern (with its outside bar and snack area and ice cream stand open on weekends, meals and drinks available inside many hours every day), old Camp Kline just below Ramsey Village bridge (boy scout camp up until about 1975--now a stop with restrooms, working water pump, camping area (called Bonnell Flat), and picnic tables, old gravestone of a one-year-old Bonnell pioneer girl behind three big pine trees on the non-creek side of the trail 50 yards north of old stone milemarker L-161, picnic area and portable toilets at Whitetail Access just 3 miles from the southern terminus, New York Central caboose and flush toilets at southern terminus in Jersey Shore. Most likely places to come across rattlers: between Tiadaghton Camping Area and Blackwell Village, and just north of Waterville and the Dry Run Comfort Station (from milemarkers L-154 to L-156). For other points of interest (depending on your likes), feel free to e-mail me at dbkagan@comcast.net. I've ridden the trail roughly 15,000 miles the past 4 years and live along Pine Creek near Jersey Shore. I'd also suggest you look at two Internet sites: www.pinecreekvalley.com and www.slaterun.com. Happy trails to you!
