We love the Galvez. There used to be a very interesting trolley tour of Galveston that told you a lot of the history. check into that.Moody Mansion is very interesting and so is the flight museum

well depends if you want to stay closer to beach...San L has a spa too...so if this is a adult only trip i say there but if ur taking the kiddo prob go with Moody G

Being that we lived about 10 minutes from Kemah Boardwalk when in Houston, I guess that I am over it. I know they just finished Pleasure Pier in Galveston that is similar to the boardwalk with different restaurants. I saw it when it was in construction last year when I ran the half marathon there. As far as places to stay, I have heard favorable reviews of San Luis.
