What's the best doctor to go for anxiety and ADD ADHD? I know I have anxiety that is threw the roof but I want to be tested on everything. Any recommendation?

Dr. Sankarin at McDonough Pediatrics diagnosed me with panic disorder and adhd and worked with me to find a combination of medications that worked really well together. That was several years ago and I'm still on the medications he prescribed me and they still are very effective. I'm not sure if he's still there but if he is I would definitely recommend him.

Start with a medical doctor for a physical. Dr. Das at Internal Medicine is one of the most thorough around. If you have a good medical doctor, he/she should be able to guide you in the right direction. Please get the help you need.

I personally would not suggest Dr. Rao, for me I felt like she is just a pill pusher. She doesn't have that feeling of a doctor who really tries to get to the bottom of anything. It's like a constant revolving door around there. As for dealing with ADD, I've had great results using Adderall, doesn't make me feel weird or anything. Where as with Concerta I get that drugged feeling and tend to have more irritability. I also have the issue where I can't just fall asleep, I have to be exhausted.

I go to Dr. Rao. I've been going there for years.. She is the sweetest.. kindest woman I know. She is very intuitive and gives quality care...

Dr. Rao will use you as a guinea pig. She will give you many many different meds that you really don't even need!! Then you'll end up being addicted and she'll stop seeing you! She did this to me about 7 years ago.. I now see a GREAT psychiatrist that I would recommend to anyone. He's in Jonesboro close to Southern Regional. His name is Dr. Nagareddy and he will NEVER push any medication on you. He hasn't just helped me with medication but he's helped me understand my issues, not many psychiatrists will talk to you long enough to do that. So in my opinion.. If your just looking to get high go see Dr. Rao.. If you really need treatment go see Dr. Nagareddy. Here's his info..

My husband has anxiety and panic attacks so bad that at one point he would not go into public places or houses of even our closest friends and family. His anxiety was triggard by many things but the biggest ones were the fear that he was going to have a heart attack, his blood pressure was so high he was going to have a stroke, or that he was having a reaction to the meds he was prescribed. I was literally checking his pulse at least 100 times a day because he felt like his heart was beating too fast/hard. He can't take meds for his anxiety because he starts to have panic attacks about the possible side effects. That really limited treatment for his anxiety. We ended up finding a PA in Forsyth named Christine Harrell(478 994 0437) who sat and listened to every single fear and concern. She did a complete check up to make sure his heart and overall health was good. And then she took the time to explain to him in detail how healthy he was. She left an open invitation for anxiety meds to be prescribed if he ever got to the point of being able to take them. She gave him pointers on how to cope with anxiety without meds and referred him to a therapist. Luckily he has found a combination of coping techniques that work (most of the time) for him. He still has panic attacks but we have a routine down and they are not as long or as severe. And we can go way more places now. I hope things work out for you and that you find something that works. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me and I will give you my husbands contact info - he is really good at helping others learn how to cope.

Dr. Nagareddy is good, however when he goes to India and doesn't notify his patients, it can be a pain especially when you drive from Griffin. My husband sees Dr. Rao now and we love her. I have had to go with him to his last few appointments and she listens to everything we had to say. I don't agree with the guinea pig statements. She does what is needed to keep someone out of Riverwoods. Personally, if that means more medication, then fine with us.

I need to find a doctor as well. I went to Chris Griffith in Stockbridge but he stopped practicing to teach at Emory and I haven't been to a doctor since. My anxiety and depression have gotten so bad over the past two years, but like you, I'm scared to take meds because I don't want to be a walking zombie. Everything I was put on made me feel that way. But, I have found that meditation and breathing exercises help! Maybe you can do some research in the to help until you get to a doctor.

We have a bunch if ADD and anxiety in our family. Do see someone. But believe it or not, I was just thinking it's the ADD's that can get so much done. They have the energy to multitask. Did you watch Home Improvement? TY Pennington is an ADD guy. Man could he accomplish a LOT. Check out PBS for a reshowing (or maybe online viewing) of a special they did w/Dr Amen. There are several Amen Clinics in the US. (pronounced Ah-men- not like the end of a prayer) The first is in Atlanta. (It's like $3,000 diagnostic visit). Dr Amen and his wife explain there are 7 types, not just 2, ADD. (He throws out the H). When I heard him describe them, I could identify different ones of the family.
