I see Dr Kadambi, really like him! I don't think they need one, but check. He's really helped me and my daughter!
Christine G. replied:
I recommend Dr. Helfgott. She's at Parkview Integrative Medicine
Arlene M. replied:
You might want to consider Dr. Murdock DC of Murdock Natural Healing. He gets to the bottom of things. 459-6160www.nutritionalmuscletesting.com

Dr LaSalle or Dr Helfgott at Parkview. Do NOT use Dr Kadambi. I used to work for him.

My husband sees Justin Brown, NP with Dr. Karas for his adrenal issues. No complaints so far! He's been easy to communicate with, respectful, and cautious with his medicines. We also see Neely at Dr. Gladd's and Justin has been very positive with that, asking about the testing we've had done there. He seems like he's open to suggestions. They have an office at Lutheran and at Dupont.
Sarah G. replied:
So I called Dr LaSalle's office, and they are booked up with new patients through Oct, so they put me on a call list. I'm guessing with that kind of delay, I wouldn't get an actual appt before Jan.:-/ I was given a referral to Dr Karas' office....with an NP named Brandi Dancer. Anyone know her? I see Dr Karas is a DO, which gives me some hope that he'd approach things from a more holistic direction, but I don't know anything else about him or the office as a whole. Elissa Kipfer, has your dh ever dealt with Dancer or Karas?
Jessica B. replied:
Dr. Karas is a very, very smart man. He knows endocrinology inside out. He is very dedicated to getting to the bottom of issues with his patients. He puts A LOT of time and effort into the health of his patients. His personality is rather unique in that he acts just like Cosmo Kramer from Seinfeld except brilliant...haha. His biggest downfall? His appointments last FOREVER. He is notorious for running 3-4 hours behind. However, I can personally guarantee you that it is not because he is goofing off. He spends every minute of his days with his patients. Sadly, he is a doctor who has fallen into a trap of being owned by a corporation who requires him to see patients every 15 minutes and he is NOT a doctor who can function that way. So, understanding that your time is precious is something that you need to take into consideration when you schedule directly with him. Not everyone is willing to sit there and wait on him, but I will say if you would choose to, he is well worth the wait. As far as treatment goes, his first inclination is not to go more natural ways, but the minute you say that is what you desire, that is what he will do, although he hesitates when it comes to things like bioidentiacal hormones. You just have to make your wishes known. That's him. He has several amazing nurse practitioners as well. Brenda Wiley is one of my faves. She is very much into women's health, she is sporty and into more natural living in every way. She will 100% take the route you want. And she runs totally on time:) Justin Brown is the only male nurse practitioner--he is great. My husband actually sees him for his diabetes. Again, he would be very respectful of the treatment route you choose. We love him. He runs on time too. Kathy Palyo is probably the most familiar with bioidentical medicines as the office she previously worked in really focused on those. She is another one who is very up on women's health and more natural living. I don't love her personality though--I think she likes to share personal stories a little too much. She mostly runs on time but gets distracted easily.
Jessica B. replied:
Carol Burns is another np. I see her for my thyroid and PCOS. She is older, very wise and has been the national nurse practitioner of the year several times in the last 5 years. But, she isn't up on more natural treatments and definitely pushes pharma. If you know what you are talking about when you see her, she will definitely listen and while she will still push pharma, 9 times out of 10 she will go the route you want. She is a wonderful lady, her and her husband actually sang at my wedding:) Very kind and compassionate. She typically runs an hour or so behind, but I would say she is worth it as well:) I don't know much about Brandy Dancer, as she started a few months after I quit to stay home with the kids. I still have close relationships with everyone that works there and her attitude towards me has been standoffish but I cant tell if its because she doesn't know me and I am so comfortable there or if its something else. The practice on a whole is very in-depth with their testing--you are typically seen for your first visit and then sent for labs checking most everything under the sun--all your b's and d vitamins, thyroid which is very comprehensive,, cortisol, cholesterol, basic metabolic. They have you back then to go over the labs and create a treatment plan and then typically see you in 3 months. After that 3 months, depending on how stable you are, they will see you either at 6 months or a year. If not stable, then 3 months again. They take EXTREMELY good care of their pregnant patients--for pregnant thyroid patients they are seen every 4 weeks like clockwork and then again immediately after delivery and 2 more 4 week visits to check for postpartum thyroiditis.

I'd try Dr. Angela LaSalle. Not saying Kadambi is terrible, but I did not have a good experience with him.
Amber L. replied:
And this is a good book: http://www.thyroidbook.com/about-the-book.html+
Linda R. replied:
Dr. LaSalle, and Dr. Jeffrey Gladd.
Jennifer L. replied:
I also haven't had a very good experience with Dr. Kadambi. He is fairly holistic. He prescribes Armour/compounded thyroid and checks all the different thyroid levels as well as other things like anemia and some vitamin levels. He also will discuss diet some and will refer you to a nutritionist if you want. Although I didn't agree with much of his dietary advice since I'm not really into low-fat. I think he's a good medical doctor. He seems to know what he's talking about as far as I can tell. He just doesn't have very good people skills. It's like he likes the challenge of figuring out what's wrong with people and then once he knows he's not very interested. After that he just checks the levels and decides what amount of thyroid/other medication you need and leaves. He never really listened much to how I said I was actually feeling. I see one of Dr. Gladd's nurses now and she used to work for Dr. Kadambi. When I was telling her about how I felt like he hadn't listened to anything I said, she replied 'Yeah. Was his hand on the door knob while you were still talking?' Which it actually was. So apparently that's just how he is. I liked him at the beginning when we were just figuring out my thyroid issue but after a few visits I got frustrated with him and switched to Dr. Gladd's office for my thyroid and a few other lingering things. On the plus side Dr. Kadambi takes insurance which Dr. Gladd does not (and frankly that's a major pain in the a**). Also, I get annoyed with people easily, so do take my experience with a grain of salt ;-)
Sarah G. replied:
Dr Gladd is technically our pcp; he's the one who dx'd me. I really think he knows his stuff, but we really can't afford him, due to the ins issue. Which is why I'm looking for someone else.:)
Kat H. replied:
Dr. LaSalle may be a better option, Sarah, because she is an integrative medicine doc who takes insurance.
Ingot a recommendation for dr. Craig Thomas at DuPont Tangie Oster Harrel
Becky B. replied:
I see Dr. Beyer. I don't think he would be a good fit for you. There is a new Dr. with Parkview Dr. Jeremy Grogg. You might like him. I. Believe he might be a younger guy.
Becky B. replied:
Dr. Kara's & Dr. Madam I are both good, but be sure to check with your insurance to see who is in your insurance network. It will cost you more if you go yo someone outside your insurance network.

I’m looking for an Endocrinologist that’s is more natural minded. Any suggestions? Currently seeing Dr. Karass.
Christine G. replied:
I highly suggest Parkview Integrative Medicine. I've been through a lot with my autoimmune diseases and they're very thorough...appointments for me go for about an hour and a half...they listen. They test based on symptoms and encourage diet to help heal.
Is there an endocrinologist in Fort Wayne who is open to compounded (bioidentical) thyroid and hormone therapy that IS NOT Dr Kadambi?
Stephanie M. replied:
Dr. LaSalle, Dr. Helfgott (Parkview Integrative Medicine); Dr. Gladd; (off Illinois Rd.); Dr. Fred Allina, DO (Parkwest Professional Office, off Jefferson Blvd., near Nill Family Chiro);. Allina only uses bioidentical therapy, should have less of a wait than all the others, but he doesn't take insurance.

I don't have any info on her, but my daughter (currently 19 months) sees Dr. Sanchez, endocrinologist at Riley. He is amazing! She has been seeing him for over a year. At the beginning when we were first trying to figure stuff out, he sat and talked with me for almost 2 hours. I can email him, call his cell, or call his office whenever I need to speak to him. He has never pushed anything on us.
