Can anyone recommend me a really good tailor around the Franklin Square area? I need a costume/dress shortened but I don't want anyone to mess it up. Thank you!

It's communion time. I didn't realize my daughters is in less than 2 wks. Where is there a good place to have her dress taken in a bit. Cleaners ? Seamstress ?
Chris R. replied:
Yes...The cleaners right next door to my office, Texpak, Inc. 130 New Hyde Park Road.... She is great!

does anyone know a reasonable tailor? i recently lost a lot of weight. i have a few pairs of dress pants that i like and would like to get them altered to fit me again....
theresapossibility replied:
What's the waist size of the pants vs your new waist size? I'm not a tailor, but I sew and alter my own things. Usually taking in a waistband isn't hard. Time consuming yes, but not hard. However, if you bought a pair of dress pants and need to chop off let's say 8 inches around the waist, then it may not be worth it. With waistbands, a size or two [so roughly 2"-4"] is about what you can take in without compromising the look of the pants. if you need more than 4" altered, then the tailor will have to do what is called a recut.

Gina's in Deer Park on Long Island Ave. That shop is unbelievably good at what they do. I wear suits for work and I won't take them anywhere else.

In Lake Grove, the tailor/cleaners in the Panera/Aldi shopping center. They're quick, good and honest. I paid for a zipper replacement in advance but she was able to simply fix the zipper and I was given a refund for the difference in cost. They made a me customer for life with that move. And congratulations on your weight loss!
Anyone know what a Tailor should charge to replace a zipper on a mid-length leather jacket? Comes to the waist... If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a Tailor...
