How old is your daughter? As soon as you figure out housing you'll know more about what school she'll attend. My son is in kindergarten at West and if you need some help let me know. I have a few things planned for the morning but she is more than welcome to hang out with us. You can contact me here or 614-559-5190 or 080-4158-9770
I'm not happy that there aren't any 2 or 3 day / part time preschool programs for 2 year olds. The best program I've seen so far is Kunitachi Kids but it seems a little too intense for a 2 year old, plus she couldn't start until April 2014 there and we move August 2014:-/

My 2 year old goes to Kodomo Gakuen. www.kodomogakuen.com It's not daycare though, it's preschool so it may not be enough hours for you, the bus picks up about 8:15 and comes back at 3:30.
Hey, does anyone know if you can contact the CDC's or in-home daycares in advance before moving to Yokota in order to get on a list? I am moving in late Sept. and start...
Shannon S. replied:
I dont know how the Yokota CDC works, but some bases allow you to be put on the waiting list once you put in for an application and send a copy of orders. Some won't let you at all until you are physically there. We arent at Yokota yet, we arrive in two weeks, but I am an FCC provider and I personally wouldn't hold a slot for that long without meeting you or your child first. ;). If the CDC won't give you peace of mind, I suggest calling the current providers listed on yokotasupport.com and ask if they have any projected openings for that time frame. It sure wouldn't hurt to chat them up and see what their programs are all about too!
Hi, can anyone recommend a international preschool close by. Looking for actual school like environment not daycare.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Anna M. replied:
Hi Clare, I'm looking at 2 right now. One if Fuji Montessori (about 10 minutes out east gate) and Kunitachi Kids International (also 10 minutes out east gate). Each has their pros/cons. Depends on what you're looking for besides 'school-like environment'. Kunitachi has a website if you google it and is in english. Fuji also has a website but it's in Japanese. I believe there may be a waiting list for Fuji but Kunitachi is accepting new students. Hope this info is helpful to you on your search:)

Anna M. replied:
Fuji Montessori is definitely more expensive than Kunitachi but you're paying for a Montessori education. All extracurriculars (as Pamela mentioned above - swimming, ballet, art, etc) are extra Yen. In addition to your monthly tuition. It definitely depends on what you as a parent finds important.
Pamela A. replied:
Clare - Kunitachi goes off of the Japanese school year and the new school year starts in April. Also it is taught in only English and their website is www.kkids.jp

This is for 2010-2011, but I think it's still pretty close to this, if not exactly the same. http://www.defense.gov/news/d20100730 fees2.pdf

We got around $400 back last year with our Federal return from child care. You have to plug in the total amount spent and the CDC tax ID number. They should be giving us a printout w all the info after the end of the year. We used H&R Block online and it asked for it.
