Make appointments online at www.tricareonline.com. No waiting, you can see all your choices, and appointments open at midnight instead of having to wait until 7 am.

Also the phone list for the base is here: http://www.yokota.af.mil/questions/topic.asp?id=1725 You should probably bookmark it.
Homebirth at Yokota? Hi all, we are due to PCS in July and I am looking forward to meeting new friends soon. We'll be in Japan for a 3 year tour and hopefully will...

Get the right information from the right people early on! At 32 weeks they wanted to induce me, I refused saying I'll have her at home to which I was told was 'illegal'. I didn't find out until after baby came (at the hospital, done MY way. Dr George is absolutely fantastic...). It isn't, but there is lots of planning that needs to go into all of it! Good luck!
Kristen B. replied:
Dr Vo is understanding. I never saw anyone but Dr G when I was pregnant because I had high risk complicated pregnancies AND labor/deliveries... but Dr Vo delivered my daughter in April. I did what I wanted not what the books said to do, and she was okay with it. Stood back and waited for anything to happen, which didn't.. If you are open with her she's supportive. Didn't ask about the home birth, but everything else.
Shannon M. replied:
Dr. George is due to PCS this summer:(. There are no water birth facilities available at the hospital at all, sorry. There is at least one doula of which I am aware - Caitlyn Copeland. I'll send a link to her doula page. I think there is a lady with an ad on Yokotaads.com. Her ad is for hypnobirthing type labor techniques. I also have a friend that just had a homebirth here recently. I'll see if she can contact you:). Hope you enjoy your time at
Laura J. replied:
Dr. Lewis would probably be willing to let you go naturally, but don't know about home birth. She was super and didn't want me to be induced but then because of diabetes, she "induced" me by breaking my water only. We both agreed on that!
Josapheen B. replied:
I was providing my own birthing pool. However you can have a home birth. Basically, you have to have a Japanese midwife. Talk to Dr. George. She helped me with everything. You have to do it with a lot of time, due to all the paperwork. I was finally given the right info by 32 weeks and that's still not enough time. Do it early an ONLY listen to Dr. George. The others told me it was illegal. >.<
Sierra is correct about the home birthing process and the clinic will NOT give you the info you need. And about hypnobirthing: the provider is Allison Davis and she lead my hypnobirthing sessions. Wonderful experience! And yes, I delivered drug free.
If I'm in the states and need to go to a doctor how do I coordinate this? Who do I call?
Christine C. replied:
^ Agreed. I would not go to the ER if it is not a true emergency. http://www.tricare.mil/mybenefit/jsp/Medical/IsItCovered.do?kw=Emergency+Care

Ooh... I know this!! Volunteering at right start helped!! You need to call 0120 983 990 this is Tricare Japan and this is who you call if you need to be seen while not on Yokota! Hope that helps!
Okay ladies... Just got here and I need to go to the doctor and get my ear checked. Muffled and can't hear really. Been this way for more than a day. Do we have urgent...
Renea E. replied:
We do have a UC or you can call 225-8864, sometimes they have same day appointments available in the clinic.
hi mamma's!
I was just told by the doctor to start using "free" products (bath, laundry, etc.) for my allergy prone little man. suggestions on brands or where to buy...
Chelsea G. replied:
We use Seventh Generation for laundry, it seems to help with our allergies.:)
Monica P. replied:
The Arm & Hammer Free version is available at the commissary. Plus they have bounce Free at the commissary for fabric softeners.
Rachael S. replied:
I usually All Free and Clear for laundry. I found that even the "sensitive" skin washes were still making my son break out really bad, so I make my own baby wash for him, which has improved the condition of his skin.
Looking for English speaking off base clinic that I can bring my mom to (she's visiting) to get cleared by the doctor to leave earlier than her original fly out date....
I'm looking for info about a doctor fish place(where the fish eat the dead skin off your feet). Where's the closest one and do you need an appointment? Cost? Thanks.
I just had a frustrating time with optometry and I need some help. They were not able to renew my contact prescription because the brand I use has been discontinued....
