If you have a small window on your door, its way cheaper to break that and unlock it. I've never had a good experience with a locksmith. They keep wanting to drill it out and sell you a new one at like a 200% mark up.

Is there a neighbor you're friendly with and trust? Leave a spare set with them and hopefully you won't have to drop $ on a locksmith next time you have key issues.

Buy a combination lock box like realtors use, keep a house key in it and lock it to your gas meter or the like.

Call the fire department. my department does lock outs. Won't do anything without consent. You'll get a team of people with tools and ladders to help you figure out how to get in.
