Does anyone know of a good piercing/tattoo place in Gainesville? I'm planning on getting a new piercing for my birthday and I don't know any good places in Gainesville....

All my tattoos are from Alex at Body Tech, very happy with his work. I don't know anything about their piercing, but the place seems really clean and professional.

It's clear that you want a piercing, for that go to Bodytech. However, if you want a tattoo, DO NOT go there. They mostly cater to the college crowd and their work shows it. I have one tat from there and it is awful. Not evenly done (as in, the tattoo is raised in some areas), has several faded bits, and is not symmetrical. I showed them a sketch and they basically photocopied it rather than redraw it properly. But it was only $30 so I got what I paid for. I had several piercings done there and they are great with those.

I got one done by Alex at Bodytech, he did a amazing job. He did a star tattoo on my left shoulder, then I had another one on the right shoulder done by someone else that looks bad, so I am going to go back to Alex to have him fix someone else's shit job. My fiancée also got one done at Anthem that is good.

I know several people who have gotten great work done at [Anthem Tattoo](http://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=anthem+tattoo&hl=en&cid=5816676091715484176).

Bodytech. You get what you pay for.

I have gotten all my piercings done at Bodytech, and I have been very happy each time. Justin is the bomb. Do not go when Lauren is working, she sucks, seriously. She totally fucked up my girlfriend's nose piercing. Not once, but twice. I also got a non-visible tattoo at Bodytech by Kenny. It was just a tiny bit of text, so I didn't really care about quality, but for my other tattoo I went to Anthem, and everyone I know goes to Anthem for tats. All of their artists are amazing!

I've gotten tattooed at Anthem, Bodytech, and what is now "Clockwork Studios". All the guys at Anthem were patronizing but the guy who did my catbus (but he's gone), Kenny at Bodytech did quite a bit of my back work (and didn't let me puss out when the last bit hurt too much), and Marc (who owns Clockwork) has done wonderful work on my legs. In the long run you need to look at portfolios, talk to various artists, and find someone who is enthusiastic about what you're getting. It's worth the effort. I will never let an artist who thinks my ideas are stupid tattoo me. Though I will take their suggestions for placement in to account when figuring that part out.

My friends work at both Anthem & Death or Glory; Dave does all of my husband's work & Rob does mine. They both do fantastic jobs & are the sweetest of sweets.
Seeking (suggestions on) an artist who has experience tattooing dark skin in other than the traditional/American style.
I am also seeking suggestions on a good shop to...
