Movers Recommendation? Providence to NYC Does anyone have recommendations for movers for interstate movers? I got an estimate from Gentle Giant and it seems really...

We're about to move in the opposite direction - NY to Providence. We got a bunch of quotes and they were all in the 4-5 k range. Some quoted 2-3 k, but after doing some digging they either had terrible reviews or hit you with a bunch of additional fees on moving day. We decided to go with U-Pack. It's more expensive than renting a truck, but we don't have to worry about driving and it's way less expensive than hiring a full service moving company. We're paying just under 1 k for a one bedroom. You can get guys to help you load/unload through u-pack for about $400 each side, but we're hoping we can scrounge together some friends/family to help.

We did an in-city move with Gentle Giant and they were awesome! Very professional, very quick, very easy to work with and careful with our stuff. It's expensive but it was worth it for us.

Maybe mayflower? Movers are expensive, but IMO worth it if you’re moving out of state with a bunch of heavy furniture.

I just pay movers for lifting stuff, tends to be way cheaper than having them drive and all. Get a cargo van one way if ya can.

We're doing this move in a year. Would you mind posting what you find and decide on?

Whatever you do, don’t hire All My Sons movers. They moved me from Providence to Boston and were terrible.

Gentle Giant is great but expensive. Arpin is locally based (West Warwick) and now a national company. I used them to move locally and paid ~$500. arpin.com

We recently used Movers of Honor. It was a move within Providence, but they were awesome and less expensive than most. I strongly recommend giving them a call.
