Tiffany H. replied:
We used Horn Lake Animal Hospital (open 24 hours) on Goodman in August and we were truly impressed with the compassion, care and cost. The staff was excellent and spoke to me at length over the phone prior to us bringing her in. For an emergency visi t on a Saturday night, over night stay, and multiple medicines it was less than $200 for our kitten. Although she did not require anything invasive, they did administer fluids and meds and of course the Dr was there with her all night as he treated other animals. I would not hesitate to seek care for one of your pets there in the future if necessary.
Christine J. replied:
I would definitely get him checked but it is probably reverse sneezing. If you google for it, some links say they will vomit foam. Here is one link. My dog does this sometimes. http://thebark.com/content/why-my-dog-honking

Mickey M. replied:
Germantown Animal Hospital is awesome. Been using Dr Hendrix and Dr Abernathy for years. Dr Abernathy years ago brought one of our sick puppies home to us late on Christmas Eve so she could be with us for Christmas. More recently, Dr Hendrix took our sick Cavalier home with him so he could keep an eye on him overnight. The entire staff is terrific.
One more question for the day haha. I found a dog a few months ago and she is sweet as anything but took her to the vet this week and she has heart-worms. Does anyone...
Beth P. replied:
Dr. Antey will help- she is great
Amanda G. replied:
Ralph Pope at All creatures medical in Collierville. Just east of Landers Ford next to Bogies. He saved our dog's life. He genuinely cared about our dog.
Kimberly F. replied:
Do not start a "slow kill" regimen without talking to a vet. There are many things that can go wrong. We paid a little over $300 to treat our lab with The Pet Hospital.
Jennifer B. replied:
I work with a rescue and sometimes we can't use the fast kill method...your vet can put her on Doxyxycline and keep her on preventative and they will eventually die. My senior girl tested negative around nine months after she started the Doxyxycline. We use The Pet Hospitals.
Cindi J. replied:
We have a Lab that tested positive for heart worms in July. Dr Gerald Blackburn at Gentlecare Vet in Raleigh is treating her with antibiotics every other month. Plus her heart worm pill. We go back the end of this month. To see if all worms are gone.
Donna M. replied:
We adopted a dog from the gtown shelter that was heartworm positive in Aug. Fsrmington Animal Hospital treated him as part of the adoption package . He is healthy and happy today!!
Kaitlyn W. replied:
I picked the dog up off the street and she had them before I even I got to her. Stephanie Dangar Brackeen
Sally B. replied:
Desoto County Rescue is a good organization. Or if the dog is a particular breed, you may be able to find a rescue pertaining to that specific dog. Good luck!
Natalie W. replied:
Dr Antey at GFAH in front of Hobby Lobby is wonderful!
Anyone got a good vet that doesn't charge $130 for a visit??
Jennifer W. replied:
Forest Hill Animal Hospital is the best! Dr. Dixon has treated both of our fur babies so well. They may not be the lowest cost but I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Jenn P. replied:
Dr. Dixon at Forest Hill Animal Hospital or either of the other vets at he practice. Dr. Dixon means so much to our family for the personal touch he provides.
Samantha S. replied:
We have loved Germantown Farmington Animal Clinic. Both docs are great!
Thank you to everyone who recommended dog groomers! We went with Ken's Scissor Hands and he was so sweet and gentle with my sweet girl.
Now, I'm looking for a new vet...

I just posted this in another thread, but my dog loves Dr Rush at Forest Hill Animal Hospital! You can see the glee in her face when she is around her!!
Does anyone know of a vet that does vet checks for free for found animals that you'll end up finding a home for.
Regina S. replied:
Post this question to Lost and Found Pets of the MidSouth as well and see if they can assist
Jean R. replied:
I just had a similar situation with a foster dog that needed vaccines and heartworm testing. After calling around, the best pricing I found was at Pet Vax. Their price was anywhere from a third to one-half of the other vets I called.
