I like Wahl''s but usually bought a slightly higher grade from Sally's Beauty Supply. One of the biggest things is just keeping them clean, oiled, and not trying to use too short of a guard too quickly. Start with a longer guard, going with the grain if it has gotten super long. This will keep it from pulling. You work your way down to the shorter guard to avoid pulling and not to dull the blade.
