We lived here for nearly a year before we found "our kind" of Mexican. I personally don't care for Tex-Mex. I like the type of Mexican Restaurants that barely understand your order, have the colorful chairs, etc. That being said, our favorite is El Rancho on Florida Blvd in Baton Rouge. As for Ascension Parish, El Paso in Gonzales near Tanger.
Hey, y'all! I'm looking for recommendations for a local restaurant with either a party room, small gathering area, etc. for a party of around 20 people. Thanks so much!

So has anyone been to Sliders bar and grill yet? I am anxious to try it out. We need a few more good restaurants in the area. My son in law and Daughter went Friday...
So I just checked out their Facebook page and reviews mostly 1 and 2's and bad reviews. I saw several where people said management was very rude to them and charged for food they never got because they waited over an hour for food that never came out. I posted this reply on one of the reviews that was a 1 star.. I hope management takes heed and stops trying to justify it. I think all of you will agree that as A.P. Residents we want good restaurants to go to that are close and we do not have to go to B.R. Or Gonzales... This is what I posted.... "It's a shame that I come here to read reviews to decide if I want to give them a try and the majority of what I see is negative comments. I see numerous where the management gets ugly with customers who complain. My daughter and son in law were there Friday night and were not very impressed either. The only thing management/owner needs to know is that WE as Ascension Parish residents want business to thrive here and we particularly want restaurants to not just survive it to do well. You cannot just ignore bad reviews from your patrons. I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this place. I hate having to drive to Gonzales or B.R. To get a decent meal. Please take the negative comments and work on resolving these issues so you can have a successful business and WE will have a good place to take our families to eat. it's a WIN/WIN! I will give it a try in a few weeks but if I see the same types of comments, I will likely never return. Ascension parish residents want a good place to eat, not just a close place with not so good food and service.. "

I have eaten Grand Wall regularly since they opened, never had a single problem and they have a better variety than most other buffets I have been too. I would go there any day.

We have 100 Mexican restaurants but I would love a really great Chinese restaurant in our parish. We drive all the way to Marrero to a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant.... not a buffet, but so amazing!!! China Pearl is the name if you ever interested in a day drive for fun and really great Chinese food. Best fried rice and egg rolls ever.
