Kelly Manno.. did you say you DID write a life policy with American Family? Just curious because I work for Amfam. and I would be surprised if she qualified with being diabetic..
Michael W. replied:
Kelly, State Farm has a policy called a final expense life insurance policy. If you have a policy with State Farm give him/her a call. Sounds like shewould be a table rating 6 or so, but that should be less than $100 a month for a ppermanent policy

Agree with Matthew Laws please check the financial rating for the company I work for State Farm and we have a policy as do other companies but always check the financial stability of the company.

Many companies offer final expense policies, go with a company with a A or A+ rating with AM Best. I would be happy to help you or your State Farm rep can too.

I have loved AAA. Renters insurance is usually cheap - I'm not in Fresno anymore, but it shouldn't be much more than $200 a year, depending on size/features/crime in the area. Car insurance gets a pretty huge break when you get the multi policy discount, even if you need full coverage. You do need to have a AAA membership, which starts around $60/year, although I highly recommend getting the mid-tier. It actually includes a decent mileage on towing, locksmith services, etc.

I love and highly recommend USAA. Only thing is you need to have been in the military or have a relative that was. My renters insurance is around $150 a year.

If you guys don't drive much Metromile.com is a nice option, I switched about a year ago and save over $150 a month. For renters insurance I also switched to Lemonade.com at the same time and only pay $60 a year. I've not had to make claims with either but they seemed to have pretty good feedback online.

If you want to talk to an agent I would recommend Nick Dounias with Meine Insurance Agency. Super honest guy, I've checked around and what he's given me has always been super competitive, but more importantly, you can actually talk to him in a timely manner. Office number is (559)475-6908, his cell number is on his card but I'm not sure I should blast that on reddit.

We use Safeco for all of our insurance needs. We have full coverage on both cars and it was cheaper with them than just my car with full coverage on Progressive.

I’ve had State Farm since I bought my apt in 2002. When my apt was destroyed by a fire in anoother apt in 2005 the adjuster was amazing. She helped me every step of the way and made sure I got everything I was due. Unfortunately my premium is a little higher now even though it wasn’t my fault but I still pay under $300 a year. My dad also has State Farm for his apt and pays $225/year. He has a 2 br for the same time as I’ve had my 1 br, but he also didn’t have a destroyed apt haha. I think I received compensation and was paid out for about $30 k total, maybe more I can’t remember.

If you go through the place you get your car insurance from, they may give you a discount for having multiple products. I would start there.

We decided to just bundle with our car insurance through GEICO. A few days after I accepted the online quote I got an email from an agent at the local office who offered to check and see if it was really the best rate. It wasn’t—he ended up getting us the same coverage for hundreds of dollars less than even the discounted quote we originally got. I can’t say whether everyone would have the experience but I’d recommend at least looking into it.

Our car insurance is with progressive and they would have us go through the parent company of Adirondack insurance (which our agent was recommending) anyways, so we went with Adirondack because the auto was cheaper through them than with progressive with both being the same for home owners.
