My Mom and I were trying to recall...did Pranges used to have a hair salon in it? I am thinking it was to the left of the main doors from the front of the store back in...
Dawn A. replied:
If you miss the magical old Prange's Christmas window display, you can some at the Neville Museum starting 11-27 http://www.nevillepublicmuseum.org/temporary-exhibits/prange-s-at-christmas
Matt A. replied:
Yep, just inside the front doors to the left. As for when Pranges became Younkers: All HC Prange Co. stores were sold off to Younkers by Fall of 1992 and for a 2 month period while the sale was being finalized (August - October), they used the transitional 'Pranges/Younkers' name....I still remember those TV ads. Had this sale not happened, our mall would have had a dead anchor back in 1992 already, as the "big' Prange stores were headed for complete failure by that point in time.
Marlene G. replied:
Dawn Funk. I learned something new today. I didn't have any children until after the mall was enclosed so never realized I was missing out on the Christmas display upstairs.
