Deborah Brown Sheridan, years ago I was a consultant with a NEW Company, and each consultant was responsible for getting their own tax number, and filing their own tax returns, this was done, because many of the states, at least 15 years ago, would not set up a tax account until there was a certain # of representatives in that area. When they got big enought, they went to setting up their own account which made it much easier for us. You also have to be flexible enough because some states like texas will also charge sales tax on shipping, while others do not charge it on shipping.
