the one in Songjeong isn't bad, but it's super gross. There were a bunch of cockroaches in the bathroom and just general uncleanliness. Sometimes, though, that's the mark of a great restaurant. Noodle Box in Sangmu was my go-to.

There's also Saint Augustine in Suwan dong. This is more of a fushion place, but the coconut shrimp and pineapple fried rice are spot on amazing! The curries are really good too! I just really like coconut:)
Elizabeth A. replied:
There's one more... it's quite far from me so I've only been once but the curry was scrumptious. http://gwangjublog.com/the-lost-alleyway/
If you're in Sangmoo, check out the ChoBabHouse sushi. Owner is very cool and speaks English. On the sidestreet behind woori bank and starbucks. Try the salmon sushi! (Taxi: sangmoo-jigoo, woori bank) Dropped Pin https://goo.gl/maps/Z2U7Hx3 wPh22

Secret Garden is a "camping" restaurant downtown (near Boca Beer and Tequilas). Super fun setting with chairs! My mom enjoyed that place.

Another Chosun backgate coffee shop is Howl Cafe. Great drinks, great desserts and a really nice atmosphere. If you like chocolate lava cakes the 풍당쇼콜라 is a must try. It goes great with Americanos too. The owner roasts his own beans and in the winter they have a wood burning stove that they cook sweet potatoes in.
I went to the song jeong Thai food restaurant in jan. called but no answer. went anyways. they were closed. there was a family living inside and the shelves bare and frigs unplugged and empty. there is another in that area. near Hwang guem sauna and hanna hospital. but u opted for Chinese instead. check here for contact and addresses http://www.gwangjuguide.or.kr/2011/06/thai/

Pho Bay is terrible. Do they even use traditional Thai spices in the food? I dunno. In Gwangju, none of the Thai places have blown me away . In Seoul, I like the one near What the Book.

You can call 1588-5252 for delivery (minimum order 7,000 won), there's one next to Hyundai Hospital (buk-gu). The one in Homeplus is in their Duam branch, also in Buk-gu:) you can also check their location details here: http://www.mcdonalds.co.kr/find-us
Owen K. replied:
http://gwangjumap.blogspot.com/ Have a look on there for the locations. There is one in sangmu in addition to the ones up north.
Nana K. replied:
There are two locations in Bukgu: the one next to Hyundai Hospital and the underground level of Home Plus Duam branch, and the other one is located in Sangmu. The link provided by Owen is very helpful, thank you for sharing!:)
