Men of Gwangju with big feet: is there anywhere around town that sells US size 12 shoes (size 295-300 Korean)? Or do you have to get them online? I've been looking...
Robert S. replied:
Sejong Outlet in Sangmu occasionally will have 295. ABC Mart is a chain all over Korea so maybe you could order a larger size from Seoul and have them shipped. Also check Gmarket.
Shawn R. replied:
In Itaewon there's a dress shoe store where you can get bigger sizes. It's called BIGSIZE - www.wangbal.co.kr. I've never bothered with their website. But I've bought shoes from them twice on trips to Seoul. "Custom-made" real leather shoes that break in well and fit amazingly. Only $125. Don't trust the size labels - try them on to see what fits.

Highly recommend this place - http://www.wangbal.co.kr/client/shop/page.php?method=map&PHPSESSID=9175 ad0 daab114348 e424 f28084 c4 bf5
Looking to get some rock-climbing shoes, size 240/45...where can I get some that are either reasonably priced or second-hand?

Larisa Hohenboken or Ally Sztrimbely might know
Larisa H. replied:
@Brandon Kim: Gwangju Rock climbers... Is this a Facebook group? Separate site? Laura Sparley: there's a climbing shop near the big five-way intersection in Nam-gu, as well. Unfortunately all the climbing gear that I've seen in this country is pretty overpriced. It's probably six of one, half a dozen of the other as to where exactly you purchase them.
Brandon K. replied:
yeah just a group for people to join for get togethers and such. https://www.facebook.com/groups/168921919898854/
quick question... I am starting to train for the race in Gwangju next month and I want to buy running shoes to train and run in... any suggestions what and where to buy??
Ryan K. replied:
Jenna Wouters here is the link. http://518 run.com/home/sub/sub.html?k=c301 You have to actually download the form and fax it in, and then transfer the money to the account on the form. It's not quite as easy as just signing up online (which we can't do as foreigners for this run), but still super easy. Deadline is April 8 th.
Any suggestions on where to find some reasonably priced bball shoes? I tried the brand stores downtown and in Suwan Lotte Outlets (Nike, Adidas) and the ABC Marts, etc...
Does anyone have a good store in Gwangju to get running shoes?
Reghardt B. replied:
The Adidas outlet in Downtown would have some of the best prices... I think you just walk straight from the Starbucks at the YMCA up that walkway, then you pass the first Adidas shop (normal shop, normal prices), then you get to the Adidas outlet... THey have many specials there!
Reghardt B. replied:
Maybe just double check with Stewart McKay about the location...
Does anyone know of a proper running store in Gwangju, not just shoes, but other gear like hydration belts, injinji socks, ultra running packs, stuff like that?

I'm trying to buy a new pair of running shoes and all of the stores I went to in Suncheon only carry up to size 9.5 US or don't carry the higher end models. Can anyone...
Jon B. replied:
Lot's of good places in downtown Gwangju. There's a new New Balance shop that seems to carry a lot of sizes as well as Nike and Adidas and a few other general shoe stores. I have been able to find things in the 10-10.5 range, but I don't know about anything larger than that.
Has anyone ever had any luck finding a pair of running shoes here? I'm looking for a size 13--which I know is difficult to find--but has anyone seen any? Thanks.
