I'm just about to renew my breakdown cover. Have been with the AA for many years but have been very lucky and have never needed it. The renewal quote seems expensive and...

I tried asking the AA (after 10 years or so) to reduce (or match my previous premium) or I'd leave - and they basically said 'good riddance'. Clearly I don't have the golden tongue of Julie Hasler or Jay McCartan- am now with Green Flag.
Jacky H. replied:
Green Flag, Green Flag - everytime!. Wheel came off caravan, caravan tyre blow-out (whilst driving), flat tyre on caravan at show (only realised when we took steadies up and caravan 'listed' !), wrong key stuck in ignition, flat tyre on motorbike, car tyre blow-out on motorway, and others we can't remember. That sounds like we're really unlucky - but this is over many, many years. Green Flag have always been brilliant.

Jo - after personal experience, I would always check you, your car and caravan get towed home as a result of you having an accident and not being able to drive home. I use Caravan Club - think I pay circa £80.

I spoke to the AA today Ina MacAllan and they were not interested in reducing the renewal amount lol. Looks like Green Flag for me as well
Jill M. replied:
Green Flag, only ones to cover our size caravan. Mayday with caravan club including personal cover for both drivers and any vehicle just £90
Ina M. replied:
I had used the AA (mostly for burst tyres as a result of the dreadful state of our roads), and got a big increase in premiums the last time around (which they refused to negotiate). I'm now with Green Flag. Have not yet had to use them, but their rates are the best available for the cover.
Vivien C. replied:
When I broke my arm at a show and was unable (naturally) to drive the car back Green Flag arranged for it to be brought home without me being in attendance as I was able to leave my keys with security, it was back the same evening and they popped it in the garage. When I've had to call them out service has always been good and dogs have been allowed in the cab. Premiums much better than AA or RAC.
Babs C. replied:
Britania Rescue are fab and great with dogs-you can leave in car or put in cab

Haven't read all the answers, but we have recently changed from the AA ( was a member for over 25 years,) and gone through the Caravan Club's 'Mayday' with Green Flag. they offer great service, will take you to your holiday destination if you break down on route, and if they can't fix your vehicle, they will bring you back home at the end of your holiday
I need to get my car from Hailsham to Pevensey without paying in excess of £250 quid. Anyone have any towing equipment I could borrow? Or know anyone that does? Let me...
