Anyone have recommendations on great companies for homeowners insurance?

Citizen's Hanover has been good to work with. I have an agent that I can refer you to that has access to lots of different insurance carriers. She has been really good to work with, very knowledgeable and friendly. Corey Leon, Personal Lines Account Manager with Capital Insurance Group 1263 West Square Lake Road Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302
Citizens Hanover has a main office in Howell. The agent is based out of Bloomfield Hills but has access to a lot of different providers it just depends on who has the best terms, customer service and easy claim process. The last thing you want to do is fight with an insurer over a claim when something goes wrong, not fun. Give AAA the boot. Contact an insurance broker that has access to different providers so they can shop rates and determine who may be the best insurer to go with depending on your coverage needs. It is very likely that you will get the best rates with a combined auto and home policy.

AMICA has an office in Ann Arbor. They have superior customer service! There is 0 hassle with filing claims. Recently, a rep just helped me find ways to lower my premium. http://www.amica.com/
