Try the resources here: hypothyroidmom.com/30-online-resources-to-find-a-good-thyroid-doctor/ They have a list for Canada in the first listing. It looks like the nearest one to you would be in Hamilton, but my geography is a little bad. There may be more listings in some of the other resources. I really wish I was living in Hamilton, Ontario - because after reading Lisa C Shears Kendall 's post .... it appears to me that no-one except Michael Catharine Bell has actually answered this posting with useful info. I mean "where is everyone on this "? It seems that Lisa C Shears Kendall has been asked by someone (a parent brave enough to have approached us seeking help) - whether or not this Doctor is PRO-CAS or NOT - which I interpret as relating to (because I obviously don't know the exact situation living in Montreal, Quebec) this doctors ability to produce PARENT POSITIVE REPORTS instead of the usual CAS Parent biased reports - always finding fault with the parents - opening the door for CAS intervention - including the possible abduction/ apprehension of the child from a loving, caring and responsible home / parent(s).. Whoever is seeking this info is DEFINITELY doing the right thing - as most people only check well after the assessment is long over and they're sitting in court with a dreadfully damaging report - which REPORT is thereafter used as an instrument to JUSTIFY the removal of a child from their loving and caring parent! IMAGINE! ONLY IN CANADA! good job smile emoticon
Maybe it's because we have a background both in Psych and Political Science. Pschologists and Psychiatrists are taught to look for a person's motivations, and in the 1970's there was a movement toward blaming the parents for every action the child took, which let to this unfortunate situation of the state taking an over-abundant interest in the home. If your psychiatrist is over 50 years old, he/she probably grew up in an abusive environment and was taught to blame parents (and racialization) for everything a person does. Some cities and towns have a higher CAS abduction rate than others. Actually the rate, from our mild research, seems to be based on an arbitrary number. Each CAS in every city, county, and region says they serve "over 4500 families". It can be assumed that they need 4500 or more to reach their funding goal. So while larger towns are barely affected, smaller towns are practically decimated by CAS involvement. Hamilton has 500,000 people living there, and 40% of the population lives in poverty. The ODSP and OW offices willingly hand their files over to CAS. Several large drug cartels and prostitution rings have been busted there, and it's a hub for pedophiles: until recently, pedos from other regions were sent there to attend a "rehabilitation program" next door to a high school. The new Mayor has shut it down. CAS doesn't have to work very hard there to make their quota, in other words, so they actually do tend to help people and they don't have professionals on high alert to scout vulnerable parents for them. They have enough real cases. I don't know if you'd want to live there as a parent lol.
Michael B. replied:
I don't know who they are as individuals, but I imagine there is a certain degree of distancing they have to do in order to rip babies off their mother's breasts and out of their arms every day. They have to convince themselves that parents are evil, or that they hate them, in order to do the job. It shouldn't be that way. The Child and Family Services Act should allow social workers to maintain their humanity.
Richard P. replied:
Alison Spa . It's not the point. If you want to get impressive jobs if you are cooperative with CAS. If you want to make a good living do not go against the grain. The grain right now is man hating even non Christian hating. In my opinion there is also a black market of child trafficking going on. Bottom line. Don't rock the boat.

Contact Hamilton is also a good place to start. They give info on services, and how to access those services. They collect info and can make referrals. I will keep trying to find more info for you and see if I can come up with something better. The only thing I'm not sure of is of you have to live in Hamilton to go through them. The # is 905-570-8888.
