Two quotes are good advice. As a contractor I can tell you though, there is always someone who won't bother to do the work with the customer to determine what they really want and need but who is willing to offer "a lower price and bigger promises". Those are often the "disaster contractor" stories. imo, it is best to find satisfied customers and fair (but usually not cheap) workpeople. Again, I add that I am a contractor and speak from that perspective. (I have seen the stonework at Tom Fleming's home which I believe is through contact with Candy Venni's company.)
